Oscar will die in the hands of random commoners who were waiting for him at the palace gates when Alicia tried to sneak him out of the palace. He'll get his dick cut out and body mutilated. The people were upset at him from Ines' propaganda. She spread news that Oscar tried to rape her and that she was pregnant. She appealed to the common people who were women, fathers with daughters, husbands with wives, and brothers with sisters. Also she had raised Carcel's fame and the people's love towards Carcel so they were mad on behalf of their hero who was fighting for their country while the prince he is serving is trying to take his wife. The enraged people carried pitchforks and axes ready to revenge for Carcel.

Nothing happens to the empress. Her biggest loss is the death of her son. She'll remain alive living her life torturing Alicia. She also loses her close connection with her adopted daughter, Dolores. She does adopt the new prince, Matteo, and help him situate on the throne. Later on she poisons the emperor and helps Ivana, Ines and Carcel's daughter, become the new crown princess by marrying Matteo's son. She basically gets "forgiven" since Ines and Regina need her to help Matteo. Also Ines disliked her mother more than the empress so she easily forgave her.

I finally reached my other favorite part of the side story, when Ines was talking about how having so many regrets/sad things can be something happy because of Carcel.

    Side story 2
“Just. Sometimes I think I’m happy to have so many regrets.”
Ines tells Carcel about the many things she will always come to miss when the time passes. She will miss the twins growing old just as much as her missing Calztela and Ille Tasya. And she correlated all this to Carcel, someone who gave her many homes to miss
“Because you always care more than you think.”

“In the end, either way, we will miss the places we leave. Always. After returning this time and spending time together with the children, Isabella, and Juan in Esposa, that place will always turn into a regrettable and nostalgic place like Calztela and Ille Tasya.”

    “But that makes you happy?”

“I didn’t know anywhere I would stay would be comfortable and enjoyable, Cárcel. There was never a place I longed for in my entire life.”

Pérez was like that in the distant past. When everything was miserable and terrible in Mendoza, she would sometimes think of her childhood, laughing and happy under her brother’s protection.

But in her current life, it was nothing more or less than a hideout from the world and from her family.

The memory of those youthful days with Luciano now only remained in her memory or as a small dream. As an absurd story that Luciano will never be able to know for the rest of his life.

She had always stayed somewhere, but she never felt like she really existed anywhere. She had always drifted in a sea of memories, somewhere that was not a home to her. (Throughout the main story she had always felt she was drifting around as well and Carcel was always someone that makes her feel stable. We can see how she definitely was just drifting from other men in other lifetimes before returning to him. He's always stayed in one place just waiting for her as he had always loved her. The prologue lines of the manhwa did not really exist in the novel but it basically signifies this and for that, it's the only part in the manhwa that I enjoyed/liked.)

Until she became a family with him.

    ----

“But after meeting you, I got so many homes, Cárcel. There are so many places I want to stay. So many things I want to do.
Ines always makes it a point to show that despite living so many lives, he's the first of many positive things for her. Every moment spent with him is the happiest and thus she feels sad when it passes because she would hope for it to last longer but she's also looking forward to new happy things to come.
“So being regrettable is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it’s just proof that there are many happy things in life.”

“So what about going to Pita Peve with your husband?”

    “Happy, Cárcel.”

He lowered his head with his back against the sun. Inés let out a small laugh at the kiss that tickled her lips and caressed his blond hair that was brilliantly tinged by the sun.

“I am the happiest right now.”

    “Is that so?”

“I’m a fool, so even though I’ve lived numerous times, I’ve never once lived like this.”

“But in the end, you came back to me.”

    “Mhm.”

    Their lips met briefly again.

“You taught me all the good things in this life, Cárcel Escalante.”

    “I always learned from you.”

It sounded like nonsense. She wouldn’t know if she had taught him what it meant to live a life where nothing goes their way.
Here, while Ines confess that he taught her all the good things in this life, he likes to reaffirm she's just as meaningful to him as he is to her. While we generally see a larger change with Ines, I do think Carcel does also enjoy life more because of her. He was once tired of the ocean because of his job but being with Ines seems to revitalize his love for the ocean. Still, the little change means a lot to him.

And as always, I like to make a full circle to this excerpt from the very beginning (another of my favorite parts).
Because now he really fulfilled to being the window to her once-enclosed life. It's also somewhat symbolic that she was the one who pushed people out but she was also the first to have to build that bridge back up to get to that window.

I like to think Ines' love confession is very long and while she doesn't write the most romantic letters, her thoughts and spoken words are just as romantic as his thoughts and written words. ::bloblove::

No, it's only for a few of my readers and myself. People I really trust. It's very private. I would probably say they're my readers whom I have became pretty personal friends with over the internet as we have similar interests and views. It's just that we found each other over our love for BR and overtime we also discuss other things, but we do usually fall back into discussions on BR. Lots of our attempts to email Tappy on edits are done over Discord as we compare and contrast the raws and Tappy's translation. @Celebrianna tweets them most of the time but she would also get me and @alpineibex's thoughts on it before tweeting. We also discuss on other comments we see outside of NU that we disagree with and find quotes in the novel together to argue against them. That's where @Celebrianna's tweets come along as she uses that as an outlet to spread proper spoilers for BR. Basically we all have the novel, we all loved the novel, and we all work together to discuss on it because we've all read it. Though this might be the initial novel/story that started the server, we don't only talk about BR in the server since there are other novels/manhwas we do read.

Is there a part where Ines remembers her first life and she regrets divorcing Carcel in this 4th timeline?

Wait, it just occurred to me that I usually post the new season cover for other series I follow so I should do it here too. :)

We were trying to figure out what the cover means but decided not to read too much into it considering how shallow manhwa team is. At first glance it looks like a baptismal symbolic pose but not sure how that relates to Ines and Carcel. In fact, I could more understand the cover depiction if it was the last season when Carcel falls injured into the sea and was thought dead. Why is Carcel lying in Ines’s arms? Don’t know what it’s about.

Below is the full version but it seems low quality. Hopefully DCC provide the full version in HQ.

As soon as I saw it I thought about the mermaid and soldier statue in the fountain, their poses are very similar just Ines is holding him instead of just looking at him like the mermaid :hmm: (I haven't read the novel yet so it's not an educated guess :blobpats:)

Then are they implying that Ines is heartless? The mermaid doesn’t have a heart so she doesn’t understand love. Ines and Carcel is a romantic couple in season 2 almost near the beginning. She could’ve continued with her plan but didn’t because she decides to follow her heart. So, not sure why they would use Mermaid and Soldier reference. It’s a bit too late for that now.

And why in a church with Ines in her worship attire and veil on her head with her rosary beads? Then there’s Carcel not in his normal uniform but his ceremonial uniform that he wears for imperial events or high status navy events. Maybe manhwa team just like the pose or I don’t know what message they’re sending.

I understand it like this: He drowned as he's already in love and he has accepted at this point the possibility that she might never love him. I don't think they show her like she's still the mermaid, she's holding him and praying for him, that's why her eyes are closed and she's in worship attire

    also, she's so beautiful :blob_blush:

I thought it was more like baptizing than the mermaid and soldier scene. Also in the novel, the mermaid and soldier scene will appear again towards the end of the main story so now would be too early. The only thing I'm confused with is why he's the one getting baptized. Throughout the novel, she's the one who was portrayed as the one who had sinned. She regressed with her memories precisely because of this. It was punishment to her suicide. Whilst the author did chose the name Ines for her to signify her innocence despite Oscar, I like to think she's redoing her many lifetimes to also bring back her innocence from her sin. Now, the more confusing part is why Carcel is the one getting baptized. The only thing throughout is his "ignorance" but in terms of the novel, ignorance to memories is not a bad thing but a grace from god to let them keep repeating a life without going crazy. So all in all, I wish there's an explanation from the manhwa team on the image of this cover.

The closest I can think of is perhaps baptism here means death and rebirth. Carcel gets a prophecy from the apostle that he will revive. Towards the end of the story, he will go to war and "die" only to be "rivived" again and in that sequence, the mermaid and the soldier scene comes back. Ines will appear to him as a mermaid in his imagination to save him when he's drowning. He will also wake up from Ines' voice from afar because she will pray for him to wake up and that prayer will wake him him, this "revive" him. So perhaps it's a sign for the prophecy which I had assumed will fall within season 2. A mix of the meanings of baptism and also incorporating the mermaid and the soldier.
