I agree with you about Riftan's POVs; I really love them because they explain so much about him, his actions, his ways of thinking. Maxi sometimes is too negative, and I can relate because I have the same mindset, negative first, and if something positive happens, then it won't last! U.u I don't know if the age gap has something to do with their mindsets. I mean, Maxi is reckless because she lived her life enclosed in a castle, without many consequential decisions to make, without thinking about many things. So when she has to act, she acts more on impulse than immaturity. Riftan, on the other hand, has been accumulating experiences since he left home at 12, so his way of acting and reacting is completely different from Maxi's. I can tell you age difference is not so important. My boyfriend is seven years younger than me and far more mature than I am. Hahaha, I act my age only when I need to. I was a high school teacher in Argentina, and my students treated me more like an older sister than a teacher, but hey! When I had to shout at them, I did it great, so much so that they never made me shout again! Hahaha. Regarding adaptations, it depends on the type of contract signed and the author/creator's willingness to have their opinion and vision of the story respected. For example, the author of 'The Witcher' didn't get involved in the series, and that's why it was a disaster. The scriptwriters changed things in such a way that the story didn't even remotely reflect Sapkowski's story (I know this, because I'm a fan of the books and the videogames and when you compare those with the series...). On the other hand, Oda, the creator of 'One Piece', established by contract that the series couldn't be released without his approval. He was very involved in the whole process, from the scripts to the sets. He made it very clear that "One Piece" is his work, which he has been writing for over 25 years, and he doesn't want anyone to change it. He understands that adaptations obviously undergo modifications, but under no circumstances can those modifications create a completely different work from what he created. He even made Netflix to reshoot parts of the episodes because didn't like some things. With KsJ, I don't see the level of involvement that Oda had. She seems like a very calm and complacent woman. If I were in her place and aware of the immense success of my work, I would try to get more involved with international fans, for example, interact more with the fan base, have a more significant presence on social media, etc. With her attitude, I see her as very passive, and I honestly doubt she will get involved with the anime. I really hope that I'm wrong on this. I don't see a book 3 in the near or far future either. I keep comparing her with other authors, I know it can sound unfair, but it serves to show different perspectives. The author of 'Ascendance of a Bookworm', for example, has been with her work for ten years, ten years! The web novel ended in 2017, and since then, she has been working on the light novel, adding new content, side stories, she was also involved in the anime, in the voice actors casting for the CD drama, the novel's adaptation to manga, and the latest book, to be published in December, half of it is new content! And even though she wants to write other things, she hasn't started anything new until she finishes this story properly. Ksj, on the other hand, was tired of UTOT and finished it quickly, leaving many things unexplained. She was building things that seemed like they would lead to another book... and everything ended up in nothingness. The side stories are there, but we don't know if they will be published or not. She's already committed to a new job. And I must say, I have serious doubts about her returning to the world of UTOT again. If she got bored once, it can easily happen again.
Spoiler: Summary of 131 Riftan unsheathed a sword and gives it to Maxi. Riftan wants her to carry the sword. Maxi says,"me?" Maxi is surprised but get the sword and it was heavy for her so she had to hold it with two hands. Riftan grabs the sword back and is going to have the blacksmith to length the hilt of the sword so she can wield it with both hands. Maxi questioning, Riftan if the sword is for her? Riftan tell her, it is and put back the sword in the scabbard and hands her leather gloves and he had those gloves made for her and wants her to try it on. She wears the leather gloves on her hand. Riftan puts a breastplate on her chest. Riftan wants to know if it is tight? The breastplate it isn't to too tight. Maxi felt lightheaded wearing the breastplate and she had emotions in her eyes as she couldn't believe Riftan had prepared all that for her. She is so happy that is comfortable what was the breastplate made of as it so light. Riftan tells her, it was made of "cockatrice leather". The material is light but it can withstand most attacks. Few craftsmen had the skill to work on that material and the breastplate must have cost very expensive. Would a mage require a costly armor? For Maxi yes. The knights and Riftan are going to teach her how to use a sword. Mages are rarely required to fight in battle, he wants Maxi to learn how to protect herself. Maxi wanted to argue back but it was never her attention to throw herself in danger. Maxi understand and she will do her best. Riftan pulls out a blue cloak. He wants Maxi to stay close all times with Ruth. If it is in on the road or in battle as he will inform her the rules as a mage of their order. Maxi question Riftan, "As a mage of the order?" Riftan tells her, "that's right". She is a mage of the RDKs and that she must obey her commanders before any instruction from Ruth. Maxi tells Riftan that he needs know that both cannot decide for themselves. He has to make a formal request to the Tower for a mage because she join the RDKs and there must be evaluations. All the necessary procedures were already made. Why was Ruth being an errand boy to Calto? Did Maxi though Ruth was only with Calto because it is his uncle? Ruth is a mage of the RDKs not just some attendant to be ordered around. Is Riftan saying that Ruth cooperated with Calto so she can be deployed to Anatol. Maxi felt a betrayal from the Tower to use her return as a bargaining chip behind her back. She would have returned to Anatol without Ruth help . The Mage Tower doesn't restrict the freedom of their mages and Calto had no right to the bargaining. It is true for most cases, Anatol has Ruth and has Maxi forgotten that he is a black sheep among her peers. Riftan hates to admit it, she is a mage of the Tower and Nornui can keep her there and he isn't willing to take the risk. Maxi couldn't argue back so she close her mouth. That is not the only reason why Ruth has been acting as the Tower servant. He secure himself a pardon by leaving the Tower in exchange for investigating the records of the dark mages and negotiating with the pope on behalf of the Tower. Ruth would steel cooperated with Calto if your deployment was or wasn't part of the bargain. Maxi wants to know if Riftan knows what Ruth negotiated with the pope? Ruth told him he couldn't go to detail but it must most likely the revision of the heresy. Riftan doesn't think the Mage Tower had to demand anything from the church. Maxi wants to know if he really wants her to join the order? Riftan tells Maxi if she wants an honest answer? After seeing his dark face, she moves her face as yes. Only whatever he wanted for her is the best of he. He wants to lavish her with beautiful gows,jewelry and not armor and weapons. He wants to provide her with a life free from worry and fear, where the dark mages are far from her mind. Riftan wishes hasn't changed. Maxi stutters. Riftan knows she chose to become a mage and she has the right to decide how she wants to live her life. Maxi can't hold back her emotions aside jumps to him and that she wants to be with Riftan and be by his side at all times. Riftan hugs her and then wants to do that with Maxi. Riftan announces to his order that Maxi is now the official mage of the RDKs and all are excited. Her excitement didn't last long as the official member of the RDKs as she was in the training grounds with Ursuline. Ursuline says, there must be something wrong with the way her muscles are connected. Riftan would spend a fortune for Maxi, he really knows her adjustments as Riftan had someone make everything for her. Ruth must be negotiating with the pope if mages can use forbidden magic as Riftan doesn't know the full details of their negotiations. Riftan always wanted Maxi to live a lavish lifestyle but that isn't Maxi and he is knowing the real Maxi and that she had goals and he can and can't tell her what to do. The couples are really growing more and both really want to be together. Also, Maxi the MT has strict rules before she accepted joining the Tower, Ruth told her to think throughly and that is why Riftan said all that. Maxi is telling and showing more she really loves Riftan. Maxi growth. Riftan growth. Couple growth.

Yay Maxi officially made it to be RDK mage now . Such a great accomplishment for her and Riftan made a right choice, he wont regret it. For me it is an emotional chapter, as Riftan is preparing Maxi’s armors and weapons, i know it must be killing him inside to see her having hardships in the battlefields again, with risks that she might get injured or die. When Maxi asked him whether it is ok for her to be the RDK mage, he told her that he still feels the same, that he always wanted the best for her, wrap her in silk, adorn her with jewelleries, and make her stay in a protected castle, served by servants, and away from the horrors of wars. It must felt really hard and took a whole courage for him to finally compromise with her and let her go with him to the next war, but he now understands that she has her wants too and he needs to respect that. Staying in the castle waiting for him to come back is not what she wants. He is finally accepting that Maxi is now a mage and can contribute in the wars. Eventhough i prefer them to just go back to Anatol and live happily ever after already, but big crisis and wars is inevitable, anticipating their incoming journeys and action packed adventures in the coming chapters

I don't know why but this chapter made me really sad. When Riftan was honest with Maxi that this isn't what he wants made me so sad for Riftan. The honesty is important but it doesn't feel like Riftan is getting his desires met. He witnessed Maxi almost die multiple times in front of him and it's hurting him. I'm happy for Maxi too as it's also emotional to finally see Maxi achieve her long time goal to always be by Riftan's side. Her character arc is very moving as they both have gone through so much to get to this point. It feels like the story is really concluding now as Maxi seems to have reached her character arc at this point. I'm curious to see where they go next. I LOVE Riftan's point of view and his comments. They are so hilarious. Haha, "I can't let this scheming woman near my innocent Maxi." I'm glad this YT channel is making an effort to try different videos. It's a lot of work to edit. Maybe Suji Kim needs a break or something happened behind the scenes? I hope she will continue to write for UTOT. I really love her writing. Kim might just value privacy and does things behind the scenes. She must because I think both her and P are probably private people as I think P is a code name? I personally wouldn't want to get public attention. I don't use social media anymore as people can be dramatic and negative, especially fans, they have a lot of strong feelings. Being a public figure isn't what it cuts out to be. I hope Kim didn't suffer anything that caused her to want to wrap a story she worked so hard to acheive. I'm glad you like my movie quote! My husband and I always quote movies randomly throughout the day and my family just doesn't get it. I love when we have snow on our mountains but it melts rather quickly as the weather is warm throughout the year. We don't have seasons in Southern California. I think Maxi is inherently reckless for the people she cares for and loves. Her naivety is from forced isolation and not getting world experience. I love book 6 when Riftan first rescues Maxi as I feel like her black dog she was attempting to save foreshadows Riftan. Maxi loved her dog and was willing to do anything to save her beloved pet. Forward in time Maxi pretty much is the same person to do dangerous actions for Riftan and her friends. Maxi sneaks into war to be near Riftan, she saved Eth Lene castle for her friends and the people she left behind, Maxi attempts to leave her group to go to the monster city to help Riftan until Kuahel puts a stop to that, so many more, it's a lot to keep track! I don't think this will ever change for Maxi. She is lovable and equally infuriating.
My emotions were a little mixed with this chapter too. On one side, I'm happy for Maxi. She's come a long way and is also getting stronger with Riftan's support. When she tells him that what she really wants is to always be by his side, I thought to myself that is what Rif wants too. He told her several times in book one he wanted her to just stay with him. But what I don't think Rif realized how much time they were spending apart. He had to go on monster raids, victory banquets, expeditions, and even war. Not to mention during the day he was away for road repairs or in the war room having meetings. It is very likely that those types of situations were never going to stop for Rif because he is the Lord of Anatol, the best knight in Whedon, and the king depends a lot on him. Rif also has a strong sense of duty and at this time he was not in a position to bargain for autonomy from the King, making him helpless to the king's command. So being separated from her for days, weeks, months or even years was how their married life was going to be most likely. Being away from her for long periods of time to tend to his distant duties also made Rif rush because he missed her and wanted to return to her quickly. Even if he is the best knight, rushing things can be dangerous sometimes. But I think because he was keeping her safe in the castle, that put his mind at ease and helped him to bear it, but that wasn't the case for Maxi. It wasn't fair to her to be alone and anxiously waiting for his return. I've said this before, but this really was the best solution for both of them. I really wish Rif would have done this in the beginning. If he would have just helped her instead of trying to lock her up, things would have been so much better and they both would be together without long periods of separation and anxiety. But on the other side, I get Rif. It's not his fault he feels this way. Maxi has given him many reasons to worry and it's was his wish ever since he was young to keep her safe. Keeping out of harms way holds such a deep meaning and importance for Rif because of what he went through when he was young. Although it became borderline obsessive and unhealthy, it was understandable. I came across another youtube video that actually explained some parts of Rifs reactions very well given the medieval times this story was written in. One important thing to note is there was no such thing as therapy and care for mental health. Both Maxi and Rif are having to learn to fix themselves on their own, and that's not easy. So my heart hurts for Rif. I know we all have different opinions, and I agree Maxi has a right to choose what's best for her, and that Rif shouldn't be obsessive, but it really feels like he had to compromise a lot and got the short end of the stick I was cracking up. So happy you enjoyed it too. I'm glad this channel does these videos as well. I appreciated your movie quote too. My family and I talk in movie quotes as well. We tend to use a lot of lines from Braveheart, Gladiator, Nacho Libre, Father of the Bride, Just Friends, and LOTR. One of my sisters, for her wedding, put movie quotes at each table instead of numbers so the guests had to find their quote to get to their seat. I thought it was brilliant and so fun. Well said and I agree with some of what you posted. The video I just shared, mentions a little about Maxi's recklessness too. I don't think she means to, but she also has a strong urge to protect those she loves. That's never going to change just like Rifs urge to protect Maxi won't change. All the more reason why Rif should help her get stronger so she can protect herself and be by his side where he can keep an eye on her.
Spoiler: Summary of 132 Maxi glares at Ursuline. If Ursuline is quite done? Ursuline isn't really done. Ursuline has told Maxi to never look away from your enemy. A hundred times. She need to have her eyes in front of the opponent shoulder and head, she is ready to fall back. Her reckless charging can loose her stance and she needs to try not to trip. Ursuline had made his point. Ursuline still yapo at Maxi, she had told him earlier that but she still makes the same mistake if she followed Ursuline instructions she wouldn't tripped. Understanding and putting into action isn't same for Maxi. What Maxi did most would see it as not an understanding. Maxi pick up her sword and Ursuline was getting on her nerves. She aims at her wooden sword toward him and that she merely lost her balance and she won't do it again. Maxi and Ursuline are sparring as part of Maxi training and Maxi tends to get defeated. Maxi has no talents for swordsmanship. She is aware that swordsmanship isn't her skill. Ursuline telling her she better learn offensive magic by Ruth ad physical activity isn't for her. Maxi feels that Ursuline is giving up on her. She knows she is a terrible student and she will improve and assure him that he taught her to use the dagger and with the training she had him, she use the dagger to kill a goblin in the Pamela Plateau. Riftan doesn't believe her and believe she is lying. He would still teach her as how long she wishes to learn. Maxi assures Ursuline that she isn't lying and with an imaginary dagger show him how she killed the monster. Ursuline believes must have been an oaf monster she killed Ursuline shush his mouth as Maxi had murderous eyes set on him. Ursuline doesn't need to force himself to train her and she rather have Riftan train her. Riftan won't have until the preparation of the campaign is over. It is getting more serious than they thought and Riftan is trying to prevent that the Northern Alliance from gaining control of the coalition army. Could mean that Richt might become the supreme commander of the coalition army. If it is the worst possible scenario and that could mean a yes. The church cannot deny any responsibility of the current situation, the Northern Alliance wants to strip the Temple Knights out of their leadership and give it to Richt. If they succeed, it will be dangerous for the army who favors the armistice and can wipe out their forces and Riftan is trying to prevent that from happening. Maxi wants to know what does Riftan really intend to do? Riftan will claim the position himself, he already has the backing by the king as he is the commander of the Wedonian army and it won't be hard for Riftan to defear Richt and get that position. Maxi was worried as she remembered the northerners mocked her husband of his humble background. Maxi doesn't have a shroud of doubt that the conservative nobles of the north would malign him of being low birth, and he yet needs to receive a title as a noble. Ursuline suggests Maxi to focus on herself for the moment and if Riftan succeed to take the command of the army today, the RDKs will in the fronts today and Maxi will unlikely face an ememy. It would help Maxi if she were to knew one or two techniques. She resumes her training with Ursuline and her skills for sword was a level of a child who holds a wooden stick. Maxi didn't expect to become a swordsmanship overnight nor she thought it would end disastrously. After training was done, she makes across the vast grounds and will ask Ruth to put restorative magic on her..as she near the lodging of the RDKs she spots Riftan and runs towards him. Riftan see her a smile comes across his face and Maxi tiredness melted away. He just returned from the meeting with the council with his ceremonial attire and look him up and down and gave him a light kiss in his chin. Maxi ask him, how did the council go and hoping there wasn't any harsh words. Riftan is hardly a child who feels ostracized. Riftan caressed her neck and could tell Maxi has been training. Riftan makes a face expression to his subordinates as he wants alone time with his wife. He wrap his arm around her shoulder and go upstairs. He apologizes for unable to train Maxi and can't find the time to do it. It is alright with Maxi as he knows he is busy. She felt dissapointed and relief at the same time, Riftan is spared of the sight of her pathetic training. Ursuline had been a great mentor and he doesn't need to worry about her training. She wants to know how it went with the council and she heard that Riftan is competing for the supreme commander with Richt. The king of Livadon chose to endorse Riftan and the odds are favor with Riftan as Maxi first dance partner was being helpful. Riftan is going to hold that against her for a while. It was kind in part of Sejour and both are indebted with him. Riftan rather not discuss about that bastard. He gives her something if she can carry it. If it is for her? That it is and what she is holding must be lighter than the last. The sword that Riftan gave her isn't heavy for her and it is really light and Riftan wants her to give it a try. Maxi your just a beginner in training, you have basic skills and through practice and time you will get better at it. Many who started their training in swordsmanship were experienced the next day through motivation and working harder took them to craft their skill in years. Even the knights started like you and now are experienced with swordsmanship. Physical battle isn't her expertise, she should stick with magic as it is her talent. She should know some swordsmanship techniques for protecting herself but if swordsmanship isn't her thing, she should use a different armour that she will get good at. If Richt becomes supreme commander of the coalition it would be the worst decision as he is immature and would put many lives in danger. Riftan has the skills and it is very strategic when comes to battle and he is more mature to be the supreme como of the coalition army. If Riftan were to train Maxi he would be too lenient on her and would be lying to Maxi with the swordsmanship and other exercises. Riftan is never going to let that go of Aren being Maxi first dance partner, that's on him, he could've have it and he is really jealous when he stars speaking about Aren. Riftan really had a blacksmith make a sword for Maxi with that heavy sword she was training with Ursuline must have been hard, now she has a light sword, it would be more easier to carry and her training won't be very difficult like the one she just had. Maxi is initiating being affectionate to Riftan, in the past it would be always Riftan who started it and both need to be more lovey dovey to each other. Yes in the past Maxi would run and hug Riftan but she is doing more than in the past.
Thanks for the latest update Marsea! Today is a funny chapter, Maxi vs Ursulyn. I love their interactions eventhough not as friendly and kind but Ursulyn is being honest about how bad and untalented Maxi is in swordsmanship. It is cute when Maxi pointed the wooden sword to Ursulyn when he criticized her, i think they are like fighting siblings now. It cracked me up when Maxi was bragging on how she once killed a troll (or was it a goblin? I cant remember) when she was at PP and Ursulyn said “what a stupid troll..” .. like how stupid that monster can be to not be able to escape Maxi’s lousy attack.. i love how realistic KSJ potrays Maxi in UoT, she is imperfect who cant be good in everything she does but she certainly is good in something which is magic. Riftan giving Maxi a new sword which is lighter is really kind of him. He knows the situation is going to be hard and he makes sure Maxi is well prepared and protected. He knows he cant always be with her when the war is all out because hes the commander fighting in the frontlines while she will be working at rear end. He still cant move on about Maxi’s first dance and her partner was not him though. That is what he gets for being so cold to her back then

The paper book was scheduled to be released in October, but this Korean holiday has been delayed to November because it has been very long. It's a leather hardcover. I heard the design is really cool, so I'm looking forward to it.
Two side stories are going to be in the novel that's is going to come out in Nov and the other side stories that KSJ said that what the fans really want is going to come out next year.
If a paper book is released in November: Uslin side story (5 episoad) This year: Anatole's peaceful daily (1 episoad) Next year: what everyone wants story (maybe 8 episoad) kaj promised to written it even if it's late.

KSJ says what the fans wanted of the side story 3. The way i see it as if she never intended to write them having children but as in the Q&A many were asking about their children and changed her mind. She really doesn't want to dissapoint her readers but I don't think you have to write because the the fans are asking or wants it. Writers write what they want to write and sometimes is okay for an author to write she really feels comfortable.
