 Yep. All of a sudden, there’s water everywhere. When I saw the underwater thumbnail for next ch, I was baffled. @NohrNeir , @alpineibex and I were trying to figure out what it’s all about. The only thing I can think of was Raul’s upcoming talk with Ines and him telling her that he supports Carcel and Juana and him would like nothing but to see her happy after they supported her through the four years of insanity. Funnily, Raul also affirms his belief that Carcel is good for her and that he likes the way Carcel makes her laugh/smile. If manhwa team has any sense, they would cut this line because I have yet to see Ines laughing with Carcel in the manhwa. That’s how crappy a job they’ve done with their relationship development. Ines always looks annoyed, gloomy or pikachu face around Carcel.

well maybe they'll add new scenes we didn’t saw in the progress. when raul was having some kind of flashbacks of her relaxed and happy moments w carcel but idk. it would kind of make sense but i bet they won’t do that either since we saw the water thumbnail they will probably just wash away everything with that lmao

I don't think they love the story enough to care. I know the artist love the story but the storyteller and the novel translator are new to this work. Even for the translator, they didn't even read the whole novel before translating. This is very crucial especially as how they're making assumptions as they're translating. It clashes with any feelings that may be revealed later on. Right now, Ines has feelings of guilt towards Emiliano but it's not until volume 5 that she even reveals that truth to Carcel that she felt like dying during those days because she didn't think she deserved to live, but we have the novel translator wording things as if she's so caught up in nostalgic lingering feelings that could be misinterpreted as still longing for a past lover. And also making Ines seem antagonizing with Carcel, but she never thought that poorly of Carcel. Whilst she had always misunderstood him as a natural playboy, it's not a negative misunderstanding for her. It's more of just stating it as if it were a fact. When their relationship doesn't start out as hate, it's easier for her to just naturally fall for him. The author even mentioned it's natural. She fell for him before she even realizes it herself according to author-nim.

The pretty art is what sold the manhwa in the first place. I can't deny the manhwa even became popular because of the art. I just didn't like that they have the art down but not the story and they can't even get a good novel translator to make up for the poorly adapted manhwa. Usually if the manhwa is poorly adapted, people can fall back on reading the novel to fill in what was cut and missing but I can't even recommend people to read the official translation to understand the manhwa.

I want them to keep that line though. Just for them to mess up. :blobmelt: If they have that line there and manhwa readers can see the manhwa never showed Ines smiling and laughing around Carcel, then they can feel the dissonance. Either from their own views towards Ines or their views towards Carcel.

They've already washed away all the important nuances in the 1st season without any water. :blobrofl:

Somehow I just saw a Tweet that there's rumors going around that the painter is endgame? And I'm sitting here wondering if someone is misunderstanding my fear to saying that he's endgame in my above post. That's ridiculous if they did. I was fearing they'll meet and cause angst and drama which I dislike in stories I read. I like my OTPs to have pretty good relationships with each other without some random rival interest in the way. This does not mean I was fearing he'll be endgame because he won't. There's too much clues showing that the manhwa will follow the novel's endgame. Both manhwa covers for season 1 and 2 are of Ines and Carcel. The title "The Broken Ring" literally means Ines and Carcel's fated marriage. Even if they want to insert more parts for the painter, the story is still half Carcel's. They will have to cut out half the novel or just change it entirely if they want another ML, so no, I'm not worried they'll change the ML. I'm just worry about unnecessary love drama that did not exist in the novel because both Ines and Carcel have a very good relationship together.

Also I've already mentioned the reason the prologue is the only chapter I like in the manhwa exactly for a specific reason:
Carcel is shown standing in one spot waiting for her as he's always been. He's the stable existence in her ever changing and lost world. Imagine he's like the lighthouse for her, always in one spot, and she's lost out in sea. She's the one who has to run towards him when she's lost. That's how that image is portrayed. Carcel didn't have to move. He never had to. It's Ines who had to move and find her spot.

@NohrNeir , I’m so tired of manhwa readers talking about the painter. However, it’s the manhwa’s fault. I don’t know how this story devolved into being just about him besides Ines and Carcel, the sidekick. Does it even matter if other characters show up at this point? It’s downright annoying. Now even people who like Carcel question if Carcel, the male lead and co-protagonist, is endgame. I actually had someone DM me and ask me if Carcel is endgame because she’s worried. Another person asked me if there will be cheating. Not Carcel but Ines. I told her Ines never meets the painter.

I think it’s the manhwa that created all of this. They didn’t develop OTP relationship and constantly had Ines appear perpetually antagonistic towards Carcel when Ines and Carcel got along even before they become a romantic couple. All the tiny bits about she and Carcel talking about her eating habit/starving, the night of the nightmare when she called his name and was actually worried about his hands being cold, just all the times when there were hints of progress. Ines even says on the morning after her near-death experience that they had too many good moments so far. We see none of that in the manhwa. So people think she’s still unaffected by Carcel. Of course shallow readers will accept her abrupt concern over two navy guys badmouthing him and then her concern over his hand. Other readers who pay attention will question the 180 change in her attitude. Just think of it. Before the banquet, the last thing she thought about Carcel is that he’s a cheater and only painter wouldn’t cheat on his pregnant wife. They cut out the moment when she was bothered thinking of Carcel liking another woman.

I want to express my sadness regarding the translations/adaptation. After reading the manhwa i searched for both novel and spoilers because I really like that writer is influenced from Spain unlike other historical-like novels and manhwas which are generally made based on English or German society structure. It felt refreshing. After couldn't find fan translation i came and read the spoilers as well as brainstorming from @NohrNeir and everyone. For the first time i opened account and actually paid for several chapters of the original source (the reason why it is first mainly because the economical condition in my country, unfortunately it is very hard for us to support original source... ) i don't like Google translation because it confuses genders and addresses and it effects my understanding so after a couple of chapter i give up... It is disappointedly unfortunate, sad and frustrating for tappy translation to be inaccurate. If they were accurate and good, I would pay for it (not today but someday at future maybe...) and read the original source. I really wanted to read it after reading several spoilers and novel parts here. I hope one day some platform would be willing to buy rights and make an accurate translation so that i could read......... At these times i really wish that i would know every language in the world then i feel content to at least know English....

Below is one of the examples I was talking about earlier. The crappy transition and lack of development manhwa has for OTP relationship.

I mentioned that the last scene Inés had before the navy banquet that showed her thoughts on Carcel was when she said he has every asset of a betrayer. Not only was she quite comfortable with the thought, she didn’t seem to care at all that he would dedicate himself to another woman in her imagination. That scene ended there.

The next time we see her thoughts on Carcel is at the banquet where we’re supposed to believe that she suddenly feels a bit different seeing him with Maria. While this sequence does follow the novel, the incompetent storyteller chopped an important part that links Ines behavior before the banquet to her behavior at the banquet.

As shown above, in the novel, when Ines thought that one day Carcel would be dedicated to another woman like he was acting towards her, she acknowledged the thought only felt “a bit” refreshing and she was even “somewhat bitter”. Then she tries to make excuses for why she felt that way. Thanks to the terrible storyteller that BR manhwa has, this development was deemed unnecessary to include in the manhwa about the relationship between the OTP.

The company that does the translation is a Korean company, 팝콘미디어 (Popcorn Media). Tappytoon just host the translation on their platform. That means Popcorn Media already has the rights to do the translation. No one is going to bother buying the rights to redo translations. I've never really seen that happening unless the translation is just so bad that everyone complains to the point where they'll fire the translator and hire someone else to redo it. Otherwise the translation that Tappytoon has now would just be shared throughout other platforms if they want to host the translation as well. An example is just how multiple platforms can sometimes have the same manhwa. The translation is still the same throughout.

As for complaints, no one is going to. It appears so many people think Tappytoon's translation is done well. They don't know the raws so they can't complain. It's people who have read from the raws who would know just how different it is.

Well, we can't forget that Ines didn't entirely trust the painter either. They cut that part out so in the manhwa it appears as though she only trusted him to be devoted. But he wasn't any special from other men to the point where she trusted him entirely, if not for him only knowing about painting and being impoverish.

    Volume 3
    [IMG]

But somehow even from your screenshot, you can see Ines' thought process only stopped at her thinking he's the only one who didn't betray her but she didn't really trust him either. As @haku06 said, this is just another example of the directionality. It made it appear as if she thinks Emiliano is special and different from other men when she didn't trust him before either.

Raul informs Ines of Alfonso’s threat so Ines confronts him. Ines does indeed believe that butler is incompetent for not telling Carcel what he learned. She believes the butler should have been loyal to Carcel first just as much as she knows with certainty that Raul would not have hesitated to tell her if she was in Carcel’s place. In any case, she upbraided the butler and even told him her plan to divorce Carcel so that he knows that he needn’t worry about her becoming the crazy duchess. Afterwards, she decides to keep an eye on the butler whom she charges with the task of reporting to her. Therefore, he becomes the servant she uses and Raul becomes the servant Carcel uses because he disagrees with Ines about divorcing Carcel.

Just in case readers think butler is a villain, he isn’t. Nothing else happens after this except that he does become a servant who accompanies Ines to Mendoza and even interrogated and investigated the culprit behind the future attempted poisoning of Ines in Mendoza.

 Indeed. It pretty much stays this way for a time since Raul stays with Carcel in Calztela and Alfonso stays with Ines in Mendoza. Most of Carcel’s talk about Ines is with Raul. I guess they have their devotion to Ines in common. As to Alfonso, every time Ines needs to call a doctor in Mendoza for Carcel, it’s Alfonso who is charged with the task. First time was when Carcel appeared unexpectedly in Mendoza to see Ines in an overnight visit. Second time was when Miguel injured Carcel’s hand in Carcel’s attempt to restrain Miguel and prevent him from hurting himself. So Alfonso is always at Ines’s beck and call. Raul comes back to Mendoza after Carcel returns to Mendoza for a couple weeks around the time of the crown prince’s national wedding then he stays with Ines after Carcel leaves for war. So does her waiting lady, Juana who begins serving Ines again after she returns to Mendoza since Carcel’s mother sent to bring Juana to Mendoza to serve Ines.

Hii,I've been away from this thread for some time so I wanted to ask,was anything resolved from the tappytoon issue? Was there a reply?
Because I bought some chapters of "I'm not the final boss lover" some time ago and when I went to check the original raws to see if there was something off...it had something off.
the translator also added quotes that weren't in the original.
Tappytoon is really disappointing me since they were the first to license novels in English.
Tapas and Yonder at least have less errors..

We're still unlocking new chapters to correct them so it's a continuous battle until probably when Ines actually accepts Carcel because until then, the translator will probably continue to "secretly" ship Ines with Emiliano in their translation and write degradingly about Carcel.

If you're that concern about their translation, you can just email them to edit that novel like we're doing. Or go the more direct route of contacting WordExcerpt to edit it since they're the ones who actually translated that novel . To be fair, WordExcerpt doesn't have a good history on their translation accuracy so for this, I'm not too surprised.

This is my issue with translators. I don’t give a damn who they ship. I care more about the integrity of the work and the truth in translation. I don’t know why these people think they know better than the author who poured her heart into this work. It is blatantly clear that the author gave a lot of thought to the OTP and her development of OTP. Untalented and narrow-minded people shouldn’t interject their crap reasoning into the work. Be professional. Even I know to tell the truth when I did novel summaries that involved characters I don’t like.

Hello everyone, sorry for the inconvenience, but I have a question. I recently saw a spoiler on tiktok that left me intrigued, as I had never read it here on the forum before, but I read spoilers randomly, so maybe that's why I didn't see it, but I still wanted to confirm if this spoiler is true with you, if Inês cheated on Carcel with extras in the fourth life, before they got married and if she also cheated on Oscar first, in the second life?:biscoito:

Ines never cheated on anyone in any timeline while married. If people say Carcel cheated on Ines simply because he was ENGAGED to her without being in a romantic relationship with her, then the same principle applies to Ines because she slept with the painter dude while she was ENGAGED to Oscar, in a romantic relationship with Oscar and three months before her wedding with Oscar. So, if Carcel is a cheater, she’s a cheater as well. There is no other time where either she or Carcel cheated but these two instances mentioned above.

I’m not sure why. Perhaps it’s the ch that was released. There is also some discussion in the novel about Ines having a supposed man at Perez in the fourth timeline but that was just speculation and false.
In the timeline she married Oscar, he was also a very jealous man and thought any man she was close to, like her own cousin, meant she was cheating or close to it. Even when she innocently talk to Carcel, he would rape her all night because of it. Yet, she never cheated on him when she was married to him.
Also, I see people think that Carcel’s assumptions are right. No. They are not. He comes close in the sense that Ines married him with a plan in mind but he doesn’t realize it’s a divorce plan. Ines will feel HIGHLY insulted that Carcel thinks she married him to cover or protect a lover. She also will feel INSULTED that Carcel might think she intends to divorce him to then get together with the imaginary man. None of this is Ines’s plan.

Another misconception that seems to be going around is Ines married Carcel to protect the painter. THIS IS FALSE. The painter was never an option for her. From the moment Ines opened her eyes in this last life, she was determined never to walk that path again. The only options for marriage were the sons of the Duke families other than the dissolute crown prince. Carcel, Enrique, Leonardo and Dante. Those were her options. They have nothing to do with the painter.
Ines married Carcel to avoid marrying the crown prince and because she thought he’s a cheater that would make a favorable case for her divorce. In that way, if she’s the mother of the heir to Escalante dukedom, she won’t have to remarry and her son would in a sense protect her right to live a single life raising him. Then she can live her life on her terms until the day she dies naturally. No other man was in her plan.

I get why people don’t know this because the mediocre manhwa adaptation keeps cutting out her declarations like this. Let’s see if next chapter they will cut out or change the fact that she feels highly insulted by Carcel’s accusation of her marrying him to protect or run off with another man.
