was it ever explained why he was obsessed with Saeyi i mean other than her having dark hair? i realy wish the writer didn’t make him so in love with Saeyi it kinda cheapens his connection with hana

You can find the explanation of Saeyi/Giulio in my 1st comment above where Fair Trade is mentioned.

I agree, I imagine the amount of effort it takes to censor it down for the young folks to read is a feat in itself. But they aren't doing justice to authors when they do that so I just don't get it. I would rather pay a little bit more to enjoy to story as it was written than to have a watered down version be my only choice to enjoy the story. Idk maybe the target demographics are just that different between Korea & the US. But I know I'm not the only person in their 30s who enjoys this content in my whole country. That'd be ridiculous, no? Lol I also understand webtoons(like the stuff on LineWebtoon & Tapas) are wildly popular with teens/young adults(early20s) in the US. Especially with them providing platforms for stories that have to do with things like Gender affirmation/identity, sexual preference discovery, & other LGBT+ issues, etc(I've seen A LOT of that on those platforms). I think Line also does not allow 18+ as well. Heck, the 1st webtoon I ever read was there like 4 years ago. My Dear Cold Blooded King(or something like that), but once I discovered that so many of the series were from KNovels it was over for me. I am now permanently lodged in such a small niche reading content but i have no regrets. :meowcoffee: I have found in regard to "Spicy" novels as well that the "Western" market just can't touch what's coming out of S.Korea. it's just a fact :blobuwu:

This is how I feel almost 9 times out of 10 about reading material available in the Western market. Once they start up w/ the "ooh babygirl/kitten" shit I just wanna put my head thru a wall. I can't do it. :blob_catflip:

Thiiisssss, :meowpats::meowinlove: I already mentioned it tho, Jin Soye is just a great writer. It's an immeasurable fact. :blog-uwu-reading::blobsmilehappy: She's super freaking nice too, I sent her a message once to tell her how much I enjoyed her works and she was so humble about it. The fact she took the time to even respond blew me away.

They don't sleep together, Guilio told her something like "not to open your legs" so that he doesn't lose interest, that, or that she becomes his lover. I was so curious that I read "Fair Trade", in fact it is described that instead of sleeping with Saeyi, Guilio brought a black-haired prostitute

I thought the same but still I did read Fair Trade because ~curiosity at it's maximum~ lol, but what I can say is that Giulio is veeery different with Saeyi, I was like "is he really in love or he just wants to dominate her like a bird in a small cage?" Don't know if you remember that there's a part in The Dilettante where he says something like this when he's thinking about his feelings for Hana and how different they are from Saeyi, so that made sense for me and I wasn't dissappointed at all because in the Dilettante he's just so smooth and lovey dovey, and in Fair Trade he's aggressive and possessive (almost in a toxic way). So what I got was:

    1. Saeyi and Hana are indeed different, Saeyi is cute, fragile and fearful, while Hana is sexy, strong and bold. Saeyi was always afraid of Giulio (because he always threatened with killing or harm her:sweating_profusely:) and Hana is like "what are you gonna do about that" *proceeds to punch him in the face* :blobcat_hyper:

    2. Giulio is an a**hole lol well, no. He was just ~your average mafia guy~ with guns, parties and call girls everywhere. For me this was the most stressful part because he really was dissimilar to the Giulio in The Dilettante. But it was also refreshing later seeing the dramatic changes in him being with Hana.

There's a part where Saeyi slept with Yuri (Yuri was kidnapped in Giulio's villa), then when she wakes up the next day, instead of Yuri she finds Giulio in her room, he gets frustrated because she didn't follow his orders, then goes out of the room. Later when Saeyi passes by his room sees that the door is open, the scene is Giulio naked, smoking and with a call girl giving him a BJ, when he sees her outside he starts f*cking the girl from behind, Saeyi is like "wtf ew" and continues on her way looking for Yuri.

In The Dilettante chapter 19-20 if i'm not wrong he is also frustrated by what Yoo Eunseong told him about "Hana is mine" and calls the girls, but a chapter later we find out that he did nothing with them and that he hadn't been able to sleep for three days.

The first scene was somewhat traumatic for me, but again, another difference is evident between his feelings for Saeyi and for Hana, with Saeyi he had no problem sleeping with someone else, but with Hana he couldn't do it, and at that moment they didn't have an official physical relationship, or anything they were just playing around, sooo the man was really head over heels from the start :meowflower:

    3. The story was good overall and had the right spicy scenes (just Yuri and Saeyi, Giulio never slept with her), but still I liked The Dilettante more, idk I think I connected more with Giulio and Hana's personalities/ relationship.

Omo these are so interesting! Thank you dear for the Fair Trade spoilers! You described Hana so well haha. Tbh i dont care if he has a history w other woman everybody has a past but it’s nice to hear he was clearly very different w Saeyi than in Dilettante w Hana.

I do miss a touch of that craziness and psycho nature of Giulio that appears in the early chapters of Dilettante. I think it does kinda match what you describe from him in FT. I like that he’s simp after he falls in love but was also hoping for him to be both simp + psycho lol. Like how he appears shamlessly naked in front of 2nd ML to indicate that they’re f*ckin’ lmao - top tier writing imo :blobsmirk: We didnt have these dynamic towards the later parts of the novel. Still fun but mostly just lovey dovey.

You're welcome! And yes, I absolutely agree, I don't give too much tought about that because as what you said everyone has had their past love experiences/firs love or whatever, and you wouldn't expect that these 2D beautiful characters are the exception :blobthinkingsmirk: said that, with this story specifically I felt really curious because when I first started most comments were: the thing with the hair, he doesn't love her, she's just a replacement for his ex, he's not going to love her enough, she's going to suffer... everything in the comments pointed to the "I can't forget my ex so let's just replace her and make this new girl suffer" plot and well, honestly i'm not a big fan of that plot either because of how long and stressful it is sometimes, but still it didn't seem that way to me when I read The Dilettante, so that's why I just had to see for myself what was that "super special relationship" in Fair Trade but surprise, surprise they didn't even had a romantic relationship, not even close friendship so I was like: really?! :confusedcatblob: and then the differences kept coming so... no worries here, just speculations. In the end Hana and Giulio are a happily perfect match and the past is just that.

Oh yeah! the savage Giulio, I loved the sudden fights with Yoo Eunseong, and how shameless/provocative he is at certain moments :blobnosebleed: but I think that was the main purpose of Dilettante knowing FT it's the prequel, maybe the author didn't want to show us that Giulio again and just focus on a complete new side of him being in love with a very unique woman like Hana. So yeah I was also expecting more action on Giulios part but it's okay, watching Hana thrive with him was also very enjoyable ::bloblove::

Duyi’s novel (Qualia) is complete! I havnt read it thou.

Hmm the only one I’ve read that is somewhat similar is Doppio Senso. It’s also a short read, good snu, badass ML & FL, but the relationship development is more dramatic and characters are both much more unhinged than Giulio Hana lol. It’s a good read if you’re into this type of mafia world.

Hmm not much that I can recall. Seems like she was a very famous agent that most gang leaders know about. When she was One she acted as a bodyguard for that Korean’s guy in the extra volume. Just random mentions here and there like that no real backstory. There were honestly more backstory about Giulio/Parenti family and mostly present story of Hana and Giulio.
