Does it explain later in book 2 why Riftan was trying to push Maxi away to go back to the Mage Tower? I'm only caught up to Webnovel app so only part I know is that there is some political strife making danger around Riftan. Rachel talks trash on Walt Disney's 1937 Snow White animated movie and she is starring as Snow White in Disney's next SW movie. She was so awful the whole internet exploded. Rachel said Prince Charming was a stalker and the movie was behind on it's time because you know you can't have dwarfs in a movie, romance is bad and men are useless. Snow White was the first full-length animated feature film and was ground breaking for it's time. Snow White is above Rachel. So now the Daily Wire is going to make their own SW movie with Brett Cooper as Snow White. The culture war continues. You just got to laugh it all off in the end.
Snow White is just a retelling of a dark fantasy tale from the Grim brother's and the year 1937 is different time from now. I learned that it won't have romance or the dwarfs in it, I didn't like it as someone who loves romance.

Her pr team should’ve interfered to save face Bc she single-handedly (potentially)ruined her career. That version of SW would’ve been a flop anyways. Those “dwarfs” weren’t even dwarfs. I think I only saw 2 of them in the trailer. Wanting to change an original iconic tale with a more modern take is just ridiculous. Disney needs to get away from these stories and just leave them how they are. With all that money, they should create new ones however they damm well please. The teaser from the daily wire’s SW ft Brett cooper, from what I could see has some really great potential.

Thank you for your view on this. I did finally finish reading the ending and side stories. Someone else did say the same thing you did in the spoilers page, and I get where you all are coming from. Fl was in denial because she promised uncle Bill she would be a good adult and that was more important to her than anything. Mathias was engaged to another woman and he was wanting to do things with her that she knew were not good even though she did subconsciously like him. And because the Duke grew up void of emotion and couldn't fathom something like love since his whole life always revolved around business, he didn’t know what he was feeling was "love". But personally I still don't like how the story played out. I have to disagree with you when you mentioned FL "agreed" to sleep with him. She tried several times to avoid it and begged him over and over again to do something else. But he kept dangling uncle Bill over her head and she had no choice. She even said herself "I will never forgive you for this" right before he pounced on her. And in the end when she finally forgave him and she was thinking to herself she even said "he raped" her and when he did it, it was intentional. To hurt her and make her cry because he liked to see her in pain. But since she was weird and he was weird, she decided to choose their toxic relationship because she realized she liked their weird twisted relationship. Although ML did a good thing in the end and the side stories where all fluff of their family, I still couldn't shake the ugliness it left with me. I also don't agree that he had any redemption. Just because he got depressed and stopped eating that's supposed to make it better? Then he holds her against her will and puts a gun to her head, but just because he bought her cake and took care of her when she was sick, that changes the narrative of who he is and what he's done. He starts to feel huet because Layla never calls his name and all he wants is to feel wanted by Layla. Its like dude i get it, but the way you tried to get that from her was a big NO! Then he makes the ultimate sacrifice of letting her go and chooses to be miserable without her for the rest of his life, and that somehow makes him seem noble. Personally, i think he deserved to be miserable after what he did, because for me, that doesnt fly and wasnt nearly enough punishment. He brought that upon himself and he even admitted several times he knew he was wrong and did bad things to her but he didnt care and would do it all over again if it meant having her. He would hurt her the same way or even worse if it meant staying by his side. I agree it was well written, but the story was too dark and hurtful for me. I couldn't get my head around it. And the last scene with Kyle broke my heart once more. Idk why the author did that to him, he didn't deserve it. To see a little girl that looked just like her and giving him a peach, reminding him of all the good things he had with Layla and how he fell in love with her, only to be left with a little sadness deep in his heart and be left completely alone because he knows he will never love anyone else but her. That was shattering to me. If I could choose the ending of that novel, I would have had Layla with Kyle. However, with that being said, I do respect your opinion and once again, thanks for sharing your feed back. Getting different perspectives helped me to put that hurt behind me. I decided that I will not continue the webtoon. I don't want to stir uo those emotions again. I would rather forget it. I have liked Betrayal of Dignity so far, but I'm also reconsidering because after reading the spoilers, I know that the ML does something similar in hurting FL intentionally and treating it like no big deal. He has more of a redemption arc than Mathias, but it still left a rotten taste in my mouth. And I agree, if anyone is hating on Rif calling him possessive, they should take a look at Mathias. Rif wouldn't even hold a candle against that crazy, possessive, obsessive psychotic cruel maniac sorry excuse for a man. (Sorry, I'm still so angry with him everytime I do remember the story ) Rif is a sweetheart and yes he has his possessive moments but there was a reason for it that was associated with deep trauma and he ends up working through it. Mathias did not have that excuse and never fixes it becaus up until the very end he is still thinking "mine, all mine". Rif is not perfect but he is a way better character. No, I haven't heard of any other books from that author. I've only read thise 3 main ones. I liked The Problematic Prince. Even though it was sad, it wasn't too bad and the redemption was good. The manwha is beautiful. I love the art for that one too. They haven't finished translating Bastian so I haven't finished it, but I read the spoilers. It's also sad and ML does a very bad thing, but there is a slight difference in the reason why it happened. It's not that I excuse it, but it's easier to comprehend why it happened verses what happened in CBYB. The Bastian art is good too in the webtoon. You know I haven't paid attention to the artist name. I wonder if it's the same person, because the art for all 3 webtoons is amazing. Anyway, I'm sure if you google the author you can find put if they have more stories.

Spoiler: Summary of 140 Maxi remembers Riftan praising her ride that day and how much she has improved. Riftan pretending that he doesn't remember and teasing her. Both were flirting each other. She remembers of Riftan telling her of his mercenary years and how he became a knight and there was a world out there she wasn't aware of it. Those years she waited of Riftan coming back, she feared divorce and the lashing of her father, to her surprise Riftan took her out of Croyso to Anatol. Her life started to begin in Anatol as Calypse wife and 20 years in Croyso castle didn't meant her nothing. She had never met Riftan, she wouldn't know herself. Maxi gives affection to Riftan and by her affection she is giving to him, Riftan feels tormented. Maxi feels that Riftan is odd as most people aren't stirred by affection. As Maxi is observing her husband, she tells her why he did he looked her that way. Riftan wants to know what she means and that Riftan was troubled and wanted suddenly returned to the castle as he was looking at her with sadness. Riftan was silent but then answers that she swa beautiful in the snow and that he must be dreaming. Maxi suspect his answer was to evade it and tells him that he doesn't need to answer, if he doesn't want to. In the truth that Maxi eyes were beautiful as silver and it fell like it was all an illusion. Maxi sense that there's more than what he is telling her. Riftan isn't the type to share his feelings and kept them locked in his heart. Maxi had a hunch that Riftan emotions were connected to her. Maxi goes to the chapel to take care of the wounded, best of her luck many recovered and few needed care. After she inspected her last patient, she went to Ruth tent. She informs Ruth that everyone is treated, they are in good condition to ride. It is good news for Ruth as once they get the relic, they can set out to their next journey. Maxi peeks on what was in Ruth parchment paper, it was in Elvish texts and complicated sketches and some were to hard to decipher, to her surprise of recognizing of a detailed anatomical chart of a monster. She wants to know what Ruth is drawing? Is an anatomical report of the monster who snuck into the castle. Since the monsters were cut into pieces, reconstructing is mana pathway wasn't easy. Maxi tells him if the TK gave him permission? Ruth doesn't require permission as he is a mage for the coalition army that he needs to learn of his enemies. Maxi looking at the intricate sketches and that she had no idea what those drawings depict. Was Ruth able to learn anything? That the specimen is able to store more mana than the lizardman. It would been better if the TK brought the monster alive than into pieces, lost an opportunity to find valuable information of the monster. Maxi sees the vast land of what her father owned and that she only had see it twice, Riftan took her back to Anatol and when she went back to Croyso from Drachium. Now his vast land is desolate and with a small village with deserted inhabitants, she knew estates had hard during long winters, now it was in dire straits as the Duchy of Croyso was known to have the most fertile lands of all the Seven Kingdoms. Watching people in rags, stir with her some emotions, a part her was relieved that his power weakened as he was no longer threat to her and Riftan, and she couldn't bear to see people suffering. She is sure that only the outskirts of the duchy is affected. She hoped that not all the villagers in his father fief had the similar circumstances, at the evening they arrived at a wall town and the commercial towns were also in the state of desperation. Riftan tends to mix affection with intimacy, Maxi is giving you affection because she loves you and showing it. Riftan needs to know the difference between affection and intimacy. As Riftan didn't grew up with affection he tends to look as the same, when both are different. During that time at the lake and he had the sad face while watching Maxi, it was surreal as he still can't believe he is married to the person he loves the most, for him she was unattainable as he comes from a low class and she is a high class. Riftan took you out of Croyso your world changed and your life wasn't the same, he is the reason of who you are today and made you grow. He took you out of darkness and brought you to the light. Maxi he holds an emotional connection way before the banquet and I believe Riftan didn't told the whole truth but Maxi won't force him to open up as she knows he tends to keep his feelings to himself. She is going to wait when he is ready to open up. If Ruth knew what was Maxi up to with the monster, he would admonish of her reckless behavior. The Duke is now getting karma of his land as him in the past he treated horribly Maxi and Riftan did avenge for her. The peasants are paying the broken plates of the duke sin. As always innocent peasants paying for other people's sins and and the duchy is falling down, another kingdom can get more of his land as is in dire straits. His duchy and army gotten weaker and it would be easy to invade and take more land by other Kingdoms of the continent.
