Isn’t it the body double who’s faking emperor when he’s actually with MC and the guard ?

I just have a few questions for those that have read and have spoilers. As of reading the recent translated chapter:

    1. does the older sister end up with the stand-in (Yeon-geum)?
    2. does the redhaired girl end up with the general Heuk-hap her ex bethrothed?
    3. how does the emperor manage to dissolve the harem/concubines and is able to make FL empress?
    4. I'm curious to how FL looks like a lot like one of the concubines that came in, someone from the same clan, but in ch 18 FL said the two sisters look alike and she doesn't look like them maybe she (FL) is the half-sister but older sister said redhead is the half-sister. is the new concubine a half-sister too or it's just a coincidence that she looks like FL?
    5. does she ever reveal the truth to ML about the whole switching bodies thing?

I’m not sure but I think there are 2 blondes; one being the Empress who knows the the emperor uses is body double and the second one Mc sister.
Well cuz I remember in the manhwa that it was mentioned that the one who looks like Mc is from the same class as the empress, or they would have mentioned it as the lookalike is from the Mc clan

So she ends up staying in this body. Interesting

Thing I'm most curious about is how do you feed someone poison and then curse them for abandoning you by taking poison?

Apparently the first love didn't betray her after all? He's morning quite heavily and thinks that she offed herself. So that means that someone lied about it and made it seem like it was his doing. (kinda feel bad for him ngl)

Also FL was able to briefly switch back to her old body! but just for a few moments.

Yeah him mourning her has been revealed in the manhwa for a while. But also, we can see him admitting to poisoning her in the first chapter. Unless he has a twin brother

Super late reply but we later on learn that he actually has a body double. If you recall in the first chapters when FL sees the emperor, the ML is also right beside her lol. I feel like it's hinted that his body double has feelings for the empress.

I'll DM you the link to the raw chapters

Warning, the spoilers below contain end of novel, (including side stories) information. Available chapters where I read is up until chapter 283 and no update since 2022 so I don't think there's any more updates pending.

So it turns out that her former lover has a twin brother. He hates FL because his brother is this perfect dude and righteous murim hero but loves this hated infamous villainess. He believes she is his twin brother's only and biggest flaw which should be removed.

He is actually in love with FL. It turns out that she was unknowingly dating both twins. See, the twin brother of her lover would pretend to be him on the days he would be away. While his regular self is very different from the Murim hero, he is still his twin. They share the same face and body. When he puts his mind to it, he can very well pretend to be him. But that's a well-kept secret that is only discovered in the later half of the novel. He was also mad at FL for never noticing until her death that he was a different dude. But bruh she's not the brightest bulb in the shed and she had not a clue that her lover had siblings let alone a twin. While the killer twin never admits he killed her, it's pretty much an established fact that he's the killer. It's a little disappointing that it's never truly established other than flimsy circumstantial evidence and strong suspicions. I really wish the novel had delved deeper into that. The novel I read ended at chapter 283 and frankly one or two more chapters to resolved that would've been nice.

Her relationship with her first lover essentially dies because of the way she died. She can't look at him without thinking of her killer, she can't take revenge for it would hurt him, there's just no way to undo what was done. I have to mention that he believed she had committed suicide (no traces of struggle and she died by eating poison) and after her death he spent most of his time mourning her hard and chasing after the fake who had been parading around claiming to be her. He quickly found out it was her real body (scars are the same) but he knew immediately it wasn't actually her (behavior, way she moved when she fights, personality). He ends up helping a bad group of people since they have the gianshi FL but only so far as to protect her physical body. Once he finds out from FL that she was murdered by himself, he denies it. He doesn't want to believe his twin brother could be the culprit. He also has to prove to FL that he has a twin cause she had no idea. So he takes her to his home to show her. It's a little tricky here cause she's now the favored concubine of the Emperor so it's not easy to go. Conveniently, she and the Emperor have a falling out (I am completely skipping some arcs in this summary just so you know) so she runs away temporarily just to cool herself down and mostly to see if her former lover really has a twin. After it turns out to be true, her former lover has a hard time believing his twin is the killer. Distraught, he offers to take leave everything behind and live a life together somewhere far away but she counters "do you really think your family would just be okay with that and let it happen? " They would forever live on the run, he is a righteous Murim hero and she the villainess who seduced him already. Should they run away, there would never be a happy peaceful ending for them. And she's right. They just sort of stop meeting after that. There's not much more. They both know it's over and act accordingly. First lover boy is ultra pissed at his brother, after his falling out with FL, he becomes sullen and depressed, and confronts him about killing his lover (FL) which he denies. They beats each other up a little but that's it. We don't hear much more about him.

There is surprisingly none. She receives help from her killer in her gianshi days (she is forced back into her original body which is now a literal heartless zombie in the course of the story and she is so hated that she is pursued non-stop, she ends up needing help for shelter) and she cannot take revenge on him without hurting her first love. But most of all, she gives up on her revenge because when she is forced away from her ML (emperor), she has ample opportunity to go for her revenge but finds herself missing her ML and their egg baby (still in womb) more than anything. She realizes that it turns out some things are more important than revenge and she concludes that she is surprisingly a much bigger/ nobler person that she had ever imagined.

So there's this guy who was in love with FL and found her dead body shortly after her murder. He had already long been experimenting with soul swapping magic. Near the end of the story, we figure out his reasons for that, but I'll stick to the mechanics here. So each soul swapping spell requires a huge price: the very life of the caster. A piece of paper with a spell on it must be buried with some hair off the body of the targeted soul to move and there's some bows involved and it must be buried somewhat near the target corpse. That's it pretty much. The soul magic dude insists many, many times that what he's developed is still in development so not much is known. In fact, she is only his second (third?) true succesful experiment. He had no choice but to use her as experiment material cause she was already dead when he found her so he either let her rot and stay dead dead or tried to bring her back as a gianshi. Due to some unforeseen interference, she ended up in the concubine body which he had not intended and spent a large part of the first part of the novel looking to locate her soul. He sacrificed one of his own followers who was a big fan of her to put her soul inside her now empty gianshi body of the FL so that it wouldn't just rot.

I think I answered most of the main questions I saw in this thread. Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers and happy reading.

Forgot to answer this in my other comment

So it turns out the Empress is a pitiful person but also an antagonist for most of the story due to misunderstandings and circumstances.

But first let's talk about the Emperor's body double.

Throughout the story, the body double of the Emperor is shown to be in love with the Empress. The Emperor is aware and doesn't really care. He collaborates with the Empress and is cordial with her but doesn't love her and she feels the same. He also scolds a few times his body double saying he is entitled to have his own feelings but not to show them publicly. So anyway, he ends up showing his true feelings too hard when a trap is set by another concubine who discovered the existence of the body double and wanted to know more information. This clever concubine already realized the real emperor loves FL and the body double spends an oddly large amount of time with the Empress. She's looking for the Empress's weakness. So she attacks FL by dropping a bowl onto pregnant FL's head. (this part is tricky for me. The godawful google translation made it hard to understand who was doing what so my understanding is that the scheming concubine collaborated with the agent from the shady group who does soul swapping cause he's the one who launched the bowl knowing full well FL would be unscathed due to her martial arts skills but anyway) and the body double who was in attendance as the Emperor jumped to protect the Empress who was nowhere near the commotion and only after making sure the Empress was safe and unhurt and after people commented in whispers that it's weird that he doesn't even check his favorite concubine who's also pregnant with his only child that the Emperor's body double remembers to check on FL. FL doesn't really care cause she knows it's not the real Emperor in the room and is aware of the fake's feelings for the Empress , but rumours run wild that even the most favored concubine is forgettable after all in front of the main wife. The Emperor is of course pissed off by this.

Plus the body double was a position that had only been created so that Emperor could escape his nightly duties with his concubines due to the pressure from the ministers for him to do his duty to bear an heir. Now that FL is pregnant, he was already thinking of abolishing that position. Given the latest events, he decides to go forward with that.

Body double is scared that he will be killed but the Emperor assures him that he intends to let him retire in the countryside with ample resources and his full gratitude. He has been his loyal companion and helper for years. He intends to repay his loyalty with grace. He only has to lay low for a small period of time (1 day was it?) And then he'd be escorted secretly out of the palace and into freedom/ retirement never to return

The problem occurs when the body double decides to say farewell to the Empress against the Emperor 's orders to lay low. During the night, he secretly visits her quarters and lets her know he is leaving forever. She realizes she too has fallen in love with him even though she had not realized it until then. She had always thought it was one-sided from his side but now that he's leaving , she is distraught. They end up spending the night together for the first and last time, and he leaves as intended.

The problem is that , just like FL and Emperor, one night is all it takes to produce a pregnancy. Everyone is surprised cause he had been chosen as a body double specifically because he was sterile.

Much shenanigans ensue, miscommunications, misconceptions, well intended poor decisions, anger, distrust, (accidental) guidance from FL to body double, attempted coup from the Empress's family, abortion, dramatic fight/repair of the relationship between the Empress and the body double.

And in the end, the Empress and the body double decide to leave together in retirement as initially offered by the Emperor, but together this time.

It is decided that the Empress will do one last thing before leaving : teaching everything FL needs to be the Empress. They actually bond and become friends during that time. At least from FL's point of view Lol cause when she says so to the Empress, she makes a face, then laughs and says "I think I get why the Emperor fell in love with you now" FL proudly suggests the reason is her strong fists LMAO I really love this girl. And now to get back to the story...

To that effect (retirement of the Empress), she will later pretend to fall sick and die of illness. On that day, she will be disguised as a soldier as a way to leave the palace. Everything will already be prepared for her departure and her lover will be waiting for her at the palace gate, thus leaving the stage ready for the FL's coronation.

I also remember someone asking about harem , if the Emperor does harem or gets rid of it.

I mention it briefly in the body double spoiler: no, there is no harem. ML is a virgin, as is FL, when they share their first night. ML never touches past, present or future anyone other than FL, although FL loves teasing him about having a thing for his closest shadow guard, much to their horror and dismay. ML goes so far as to use a sterile body double to do his nightly duties with his concubines.

    About her Martial Arts

she wakes up in the untrained body of a concubine in the Emperor's harem. While she has zero knowledge or memories belonging to her new body, she fully retains her old memories as the infamous ultra strong villainess. She quickly begins training her body again and regaining her martial arts though she stays weaker than her former self who had trained her body pretty much since she was born just to survive. Her martial arts, since they were developed by herself as a means of survival, are pretty unique. While she's honing her body muscles, she lacks internal strength (think of it like mana or internal energy). Through the novel, she manages to consume precious things that boost internal energy, but that takes much effort on her side to make it appear natural with her new identity and since she's kinda ignorant (she was never taught anything before, she always survived alone and powered through things so she knows nothing about the prerequisites before taking strong elixirs, she was just lucky enough before that she met them due to her harsh life and strong self but now she's weaker and doesn't really meet those requirements anymore, she would have needed to train much more before being able to take them safely but she's impatient so..) she also almost kills herself doing so lol

So to recap, she is stronger than your average martial artist due to her skills, reflexes and techniques which she retains from before. But she is weaker than her former self and against large groups of enemies, she is not as proficient as she was before / might even need help (though she'd never agree with these words).

I don't think this needs a spoiler tag but just in case I slip and say something I shouldn't, I'll add the tag

this novel is so much fun. The FL is a lovable goofball and I can't get enough of her shenanigans. She's bold, honest, excellent in martial arts and any survival skills, but not super smart especially when it comes to books and learned things, and maybe a bit naive(?). Her simplicity is refreshing and fun.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this. I laughed a lot, teared up in some parts, it was really fun. I do recommend this story.

Now this part yeah needs a spoiler tag

I mentioned it briefly before, it feels like some chapters are missing. I don't know if anyone can tell me where to read chapter 284+ if they exist, but so far as I know, there's nothing after chapter 283 and it feels like there should be a few extra chapters.

We kinda don't really know what happened to them. As far as I know, nothing happened to them. They just lived on. Period. I dunno, that feels lacking to me. Plus, we don't get a POV chapter from the likely killer to confirm that he is indeed the killer and why, other than what he publicly claims and privately showed both during the murder and in the notes in her diary written post mortem after FL's passing (yeah apparently, killer twin found her diary and would write in it after her murder which is how she discovers that she had been inadvertently dating both twins and that her lover had a twin at all, that's also when she finally starts thinking that maybe she's kinda stupid after all / until then she always felt she was very smart haha).

I kinda hoped to see remorse or revenge or some sort of resolution, not just "oh well, forget about the murder I'm happy now with my boi Emperor. Don't get me wrong, yes I love that, but where's the justice ?

in the end there's no revenge. Heck even the childhood girl friend of the twins who is in love with the lackluster twin sells out her location, smiles maliciously at FL as she is "taken away" (goes with the guards willingly) and is never seen again (no revenge, no consequence, no nothing). Which I guess is fine but for a story about revenge , this would've been the easier target of revenge since all the major ones are too complicated to deal with because of entanglements in relationships. Not her, this one would have been an easy one to deal with. But nothing even here. While the FL dreams of revenge for most of the novel, in the end, there's none at all.

I also kinda wished to see a chapter about the baby growing up or being grown up. To see if he did indeed get his mom's personality, and would it be the bio mom personality or the FL (soul inside)? Will he get her brains or lack of as she fears ? Lol anyway, it would've been nice.

Lastly, (no spoiler tag needed for this one), reading with MTL (in my case google since it's embedded in my browser) has clear and major downsides. It's hard to understand who they're talking about and it quickly becomes confusing.

    For instance
there is mention of someone who left to marry the Emperor of a neighboring place in order to use that position to get revenge. Honest to god, I confusedly thought they were talking about the Emperor's younger brother at first and that they actually meant to get married with someone high ranking. Turns out they really got married to the Emperor and I don't know who it is that went there. Emperor's only sister is long dead. Could it be a cousin? And then there's a whole chapter about her time over there and how that other emperor they married is obsessed with his dead wife, going so far as to continue to give her the same budget in full as when she was alive, asking that the cooks prepare the same meals she enjoyed when she was alive, and the new Empress, who is also friends with FL and telling her about this in letter, is pissed cause that wasn't part of her deal with the Emperor she married. And I'm reading this wondering wtf, who is that woman again? And why are we starting a whole new story line when the novel ends like next chapter ??! So yeah that was frustrating and confusing. So if anyone read the novel and understood what that was all about, please let me know. Or maybe I'll find out when the manhwa reaches the end of the story

Also, it kind of sucks that FL's reputation was never redeemed.
She was never a villain, she was an orphan trying hard to survive and her simple mind, honest mouth and carefree attitude got her in trouble so bad that she earned a bad reputation cause people would react badly to her smart mouth and she doesn't take attacks lying down, she pays them back in full. That's how she became known as a villainess and had to live attacked by everyone day and night, scraping every day for food. (To the point where the fan who gave her soul to inhabit her empty gianshi body was in the end mentally exhausted and chose to have her soul disappear than to continue living as FL. And this girl had it better than FL, she had the protection of the soul wizard group she belongs to and food and shelter. She wasn't alone. Still, it was really mentally taxing to be met with hate everywhere.)
Back to FL villainess. Bruh. She was never evil. And no one saw that except for the weird men in love with her. Looking at you spirit magic sorcerer who purposely denied knowing her when he was rich and could've helped her live a better life but chose not to because in his opinion being alone is what made her strong and it was his love and goodwill that she continue to be strong aka alone, lonely and struggling every day to survive. What a walking red flag, that guy.
So it kinda sucks that she just died, everyone cheered, the end. At least from the point of view of the public that is. It would've been nice to see her original name's reputation redeemed though it would've been hard especially since soul sorcerer used her body occupied by an underling of his to commit many evil deeds publicly.

But it's nice that at least ML
did go and get some mild revenge for her against her og parents in the extra stories for abandoning her. And it's nice that he called her og name his benefactor (savior?) which must have helped a bit her reputation, though barely since people were still super sus against her and held enmity towards her.

How fun!! It was fun to relive the story through the artwork ! Thank you for the link !

I don't think the link is problematic because it's the original publisher's link, not a pirate website. It's a legally acceptable link if you will. So this weblink you can share worry free

It was fun to type it up for you all. I was so hyped reading this story and was looking forward to sharing it with someone. Glad you guys enjoyed my sharing

Please don't hesitate if you have other questions ! ::bloblove::

As time passes , the info becomes less fresh in my mind and may need something to trigger the memory. Hopefully I still remember enough by the time anyone thinks of a question :blobturters: I swear I'm too young to have dementia :blobflag: however, I read one novel after the other plus follow so many mangas on weekly updates :blog-uwu-reading: so new stories replace older ones in my memory and as time goes on, :notlikemeow:older stories become buried under new ones:meowpuffysoul: and it becomes impossible to remember precisely every tiny minute thing as time goes on.:blobcatpeekwall:

I finally tried the emojis here. I didn't realize the ones I had inserted in my prior comments were never shown or saved when I published them because thet were from my phone keyboard rather than the in-house ones. :blobstare::bloborz::blob_teary:

Call me weird, but I'm glad the harem doesn't get abolished at the end. It always irks me when historical manwha do this. It's 100% political, and a status symbol. Most of those women enter the harem half expecting to never even see the Emperor again after the first night, and are perfectly content with just having the pampered status of being a concubine until they're dismissed when the crown prince takes the throne. Unless the fl is a mordern soul, it also seems hypocritical for her to dispose the harem. Like, you know that's how ml found you, right?

On that note, I do oppose continuing to fill the harem after fl and ml have already confirmed their feelings. Feels cruel at that point.

No, no, you got a point! I hadn't really every thought about it before you pointed it out. Usually, I felt like it bothered me a little bit now that I'm having to put it into words, I realize it's because it felt too unrealistic.

I get it, criticizing unrealistic things in a fantasy sorry and all, but at least those fantasy elements make sense within the in-world parameters that have been set up, you know? Whereas the abolishment of the harem just makes no sense in-world, in most stories.

Some do pull it off quite well though, gotta say that. Like in stories where the previous kingdom is overthrown and a new empire is established with its own laws and customs, then it makes sense.

But when it's the perpetuation of the same kingdom, it's often a little unbelievable. Doesn't fit quite right. Kinda like how Cinderella's sister wears her glass shoes. She manages to shoe it in, but at the price of her severed toes. Sure, it sort of works, but not really.
