Because she doesn't know him well enough to trust that he won't be like everyone else.She have no guarantee that he won't be like the elandrias that used her and grabbed all they could before abandoning and killing Neris and her mother.Also,they are not friends or lovers right now.He is just a senior and noble she barely met or talked to.Its not unusual for her to not be eager to put all her trust on him.

She needs to take the risk,but that doesn't mean it's easy to do it.We can't forget she spent twenty years being mistreated and backstabbed.Trauma like this doesn't disappear overnight because someone looks or is known to be trustworthy.She's taking baby steps and she already allied herself to him even though she don't want to expose her weaknesses or ask for help freely just yet,but just like she opened her heart to Diane she will do so to him once she feels comfortable enough.

I discovered this story just recently in Webtoon, found the FMC interesting, read the fan-translated Manhwa Chapters and then seek out the spoilers.
Only then did I realize that I've seen this pattern already plenty of times in other Romance Fantasy Plots before.
So I am starting to wonder if it is even possible for a Regressor, Reincarnator or Transmigrator Heroine to win against her enemies without the backing of an Archduke or Prince/King/Emperor who has to be obsessed or so in love with her....
I mean, have you ever seen a Male Hero having the same problems as the Female Protagonist in the Fantasy World of Aristocrats & Royals?

"How else can she survive and get her Revenge without a powerful ML?"

I think, a challenge of fiction is to imagine and explore any possible ways to solve problems.

 

I know that traumas varies from person to person and the healing is unique in each and every case, this is why it should be tailor-made by a professional.
In her case - her healing is unconventional, it's venting her anger and getting revenge. In similar cases we can observe a great deal of single mindedness, or tunnel vision, where nothing else exist but the goal, in her case: vengeance.
And based on the manhwa, she's rather careful with exposing her weaknesses.

I understand where you're coming from, but I can't relate. If the plot is reasonable, and constructed creatively and realistically, I see no problem with a heroine using the powerful males around her. (Edit: using doesn't equal to be overly dependant, especially in this one so far)
About the male counterpart: I am sure there are some examples ( like the one using the duchess to get out of a tricky situation, the title eludes me, sorry), but as long as the target demographic is what it is, I wouldn't hope for big or immediate changes.

Edit: note that I only have read the translated webtoon and the spoilers here, but I find her response in the risk-taking realistic, her cognitive biases are described and shown ok-ish etc.

Different demographic, i guess. Based on the person who mentioned it: those who comment directly on the whatever are against her vengance, while we are all for it.
We, who whave found the original Novel Updates, and the forum, probably have quite the vast reading list and experienced POVs of different characters in different positions, hence why we are more sympathetic towards Neris and her vengeance.

Especially as there are some stories that quite abuses their MC and readers (hint: My fiance is in love with my little sister).
Read my whole comment as me 1/2 bullshit writing a theory. Half of it which is based on me once ending in a discord server with a demographic I would have tried to steer away and not interact in real life. It was quite eye opening that such people exist.

Those people either did or tried to do bad things to MC in the current timeline. If they didn't even try, it's only because they kick just those who are down. The easy targets only. I don't believe such people need mercy.

 

Yes, it's true, we can assume MC did bad things to innocent ppl in the past. But she lost her mother, and the only person who seemed to care about her was the two faced Nellision, so I can understand how she was manipulated to do those bad things.

 

I agree with you,but I just really liked how she addressed it instead of brushing off her rotten choices like many female leads former villainesses.She thinks of herself as a monster but she does have a conscience and it's show many times trough the story,like when she started thinking if what she was doing to Angharad was fair.I really like how the author builds the story and how Neris change is subtle but perceptible.
I really enjoyed the chapters that I am still to upload,because again,there was a considerable character development in Neris.♡

 

I find it fascinating how intense the double standards are.

Imagine judging and forgiving every regressed villainess for the stuff that they committed in previous timelines (and thought remembering it all, not addressing or trying for atonement), and bashing every ML for the same (even though they don't even remember most of the time [kough kough abandoned empress kough kough] and are working better in current timeline because of the different influences and reactions they experience mostly due to the FL's different course of actions).

I am really pleased with this not being the case here. The author addressing her state of mind, and exploring the meaning of malicious actions and moral consequences are a breath of fresh air!

I am always fascinated by the nurture-nature debate.

 

About "Abandoned Empress",while I would rather fl stayed with the red knight,more because I feel like "I" wouldn't be able to overcome the bad memories,I appreciate how the fact that the ML getting to know the fl,clearing the misunderstandings and prejudices he had about her changed his whole destiny and made him a better and reasonable person.I thought it was a rather unique take in a male lead character development.It really showed how our choice can change everything.
But you know,when we first started discussing Heroine's bad acts being ignored,I thought about Dr Elise.We know the female lead committed bad actions and it made her family suffer consequences and eventually having her burned alive,but we don't know what those actions were and they are hardly mentioned while it's always how she became a doctor to "redempt" herself.It makes easier to ignore her bad deeds when we don't even know what they were.But the ML,Ron,was always hated by the readers for being the one to sentence her to death,despite enduring trauma because of the nobles actions.So yeah,double standards.

 

I've not read that one, hence, just went with the most controversial one from my "seen that" list. She ending up with him speaks volumes of her character's development in handling and overcoming her traumas and limitations. Choices and consequences have and always had a special place in my heart.

▪︎Diane writes about the latest news,how Marquess Lyceandros and Marquess Kendall got into a public argument over their daughters,how her uncle was arrested for sneaking back into the territory and steal of their horses to gamble with the McKinnon family name and how Nuallan wasn't able to release him since rumor has it he was put in a illegal mine to work since he had a lot of debt.The guild they were responsible for was in a bigger mess than they thought because of their bad conduct and Joanne Maurier was put in charge of it.Diane also told Neris about how her worries came true and the plants of Betty land are not growing anymore and people are without job.She told Neris that if the person she talked about that is looking for someone to grow plants is still interested,Betty brother would like to be employed.She also asked how Neris is spending her time in the parisher territory and that her family will come see her there since they all want to see her again.And finishes the letter with "from Diane,who loves you very much"(MY BABYYYYY)

▪︎Neris replies saying she knows the job is still open and she will send the details later.She tells Diane that she is having a pleasant time since the vicount couple is very kind to her and her mother,taking neris to boats and giving her books and permission to use the library.The viscountess don't have children of her own yet,so she really adores them and had quite a surprise seeing how big Diane letter was and if she wrote about a dozen of people.She also talks about the beauty of the land that she looks forward to Diane visit.
▪︎She also receives and send some letters to Cledwyn and they have such a fun dynamic teasing each other and they talk about neris future plant business and how Cledwyin wishes she would grow fast to command the elders of his land.(He means like a subordinate,not a wife,but we all know how this story ends)She also talks about how one Angharad younger cousins tried to cause trouble to her mother but he didn't finish it and she assumed Cledwyn had a hand on it and she was right.He said angharad was scolded by her father for giving toys to her cousin to harass her and that Baron nain seems to hold some values since she didn't said anything about her family to lord Wilton,the lord of Neris territory.She also says that it was hard to write because Diane is there and wants to be with Neris day and night.She inquires why he didn't reply to her last letter and receives one by one of his subordinates that says it will be hard to speak with him and she should stop too for her own security.
▪︎Ren writes to her inquiring about her well-being and is the one to tell her that 2 vassals of Cledwyn started a revolt and that Cledwyn seems to be in great danger,so Neris should be careful since both of them can protect themselves but Neris is a different story.Neris is amused at how he sees he rings a good light like she is someone who doesn't hesitate to help other people but Neris doesn't see himself in this way,she thinks of herself as more of a villain and if someone would be kind enough to help people,Cledwyn fits it more.She already seems to have a high opinion of him.
▪︎In the Elandria manor in the capital,Nelruision is reprimanding Valentin for taking too many carriages and luggage to the academy,since even though their dorm is big,it will not be enough to it all.Valentin makes a declaration that it's for the dignity of the duchy and her nanny,Delma,praises her but Nelruision is not having it and in the end the servants have to redo it all again.One of the low ranking maids,Isabelle,blushs once Nelruision asks her to come to the academy to serve Neris Truide.Unlike Valentin that is known as little tyrant,everybody likes the kind Nelruision.Joseph was just thinking that Valentin tantrums are like a cute child,but now is worried that Nelruision is being too soft on neris because he is suspicious of the circumstances of that night,but Nelruision assures it's not just because neris needs someone to take care of her,but also to make sure she is not doing anything that won't benefit them.Valentim have an angry expression and her loyal nanny that spoils her rotten thinks it's because of the luggage,but it's actually because of what Megara said some time ago.Since all the high ranking nobles live in the same street,Megara and Valentin interact well and Valentin likes her.Megara told her all about how Neris is bragging about the elandria and being a show off.Valentin had hated neris since she first saw her but she hates her even more for pretending to be of the same status.She plans to crush her once she arrives at the academy.

▪︎At the academy,all the students are excitedly chatting about unlike the elegant and modest Nelruision,his sister arrived with many servants,carriages and luggages.Even her nanny outfits are expensive.(I wont lie,if I were a rich princess I would do the same XD)Neris knows better than anyone about how material Valentin is since in the past,she always wore the handouts of her and Delma.She is happy that she will only face her a year after the return,since she would probably slap her murderer upon seeing her and now her mind is more rational.Neris has an aura hard to aproach since she used to be princess consort,so it discourage her older classmates of approaching her.Everybody in the school knows how intelligent she is,but many were encourages by their parents to form a bond with her since she is close to Nelruision Elandria and Diane McKinnon.In the hallway.In the hallway,Neris is trying not to be crushed by the taller students and Arthur Pendlant helps her.Suddenly there's a commotion.Valentin Elandria arrived in clothes way too fancy and uncomfortable to school.She came to meet her brother and also greeted the crown prince.Neris is annoyed seeing seeing together because it makes her think of how those disgraceful people would gave a great life after she died.Nelruision takes notice of Neris and asks her to come closer.
▪︎He introduces Neris to Valentin and the latter is surprised seeing how dignified Neris became.It was not enough to dare to mingle with nobles,but now she dares to act like them and this to Valentin is unforgiven.She calls Neris by her name and Neris states that student should be speak in polite way to older students.This makes Valentin angry and before she can finish asking how Neris dares,Nelruision interrupts and says Neris is right.Valentin knows the that the rules are enforced by the student council and if she tries to act against those rules in front of the crown prince,it won't make her look good so she pretends to recognize her mistake and the students watching think she was a little rude because she is a kid,but it's a good person because because can apologize for her mistakes.She brings attention to the fact that Neris became elegant after the last time they saw each other(she mean to shame nerid because she came to her house asking for tuition money)Neris calls Valentin cute,but Valentin can tell she is being mocked,like Neris is calling her dumb.Nelruision says to Neris that Valentin always wanted an older sister and it would be good if they could become friends and she should speak without formalities with Valentin.Valentin is about to shout but Delma whisper to her that it's a good idea and since she trust her former nanny,now exclusive maid more than her family because she always does what she wants,Valentin agrees because she guess Delma has a plan.
▪︎Nelruision says to Neris he brought a maid to her since she needs someone to take care of her,and Neris tries to refuse saying her dorm it's too small to gave a maid's accommodation.Nelruision actually thought of moving her to a better dorm,but he figured that giving her small gazes into aristocrat life would make her grow more grateful towards them.He told Neris that Isabelle would stay with the other maids in his and Valentin dorm,but would fulfill her duties with Neris from the time she awakens until she falls sleep.Valentin also encourages her to accept in a way that brings attention to the fact neris is poor enough to not have someone waiting on her.Neris was planning to refuse because she knows it's to spy on her,but changed her mind after hearing the maids name.In the past,once she was adopted by the elandria,all the servants knew she was a daugther only in name and neglected her,to the point where things like water,food and firewood that used to come late in the day,would not come at all and she had to get them herself.Nelruision noticed it before she died of hunger or cold,but Isabelle,her exclusive maid chastised for it.Isabelle was always rude and demeaning to Neris,mocking her low status and capabilities.One day,the duchess jewels were found in Neris bedroom and since she was already know as a thief in the academy,the duchess cut her hair to "cure" her.The next day,Neris had a new maid and Isabelle could be seen waiting on Valentin and became one of her favorites maids.She plans topunish her in this life.
▪︎In the classroom,Diane and Neris hug each other and chat while Megara notices from afar that Neris looks like she gained weight and looks happier than before too.This makes her outraged because Neris had a good summer while she was confined to her house and couldn't attend gatherings with her peers.Thats because her father wanted to be seen as someone who educated his children properly.He didn't mess with Megarad businesses and didn't care about the dispute with Marquess Kendall,since house Lyceandros is more prestigious,but he did care that Megara received a written notice from the student council for lying and giving false testimony against a classmate,since the student council is formed by the students that will lead the empire someday and her daughter,being a member of the Lyceandros family will probably be on it.Once again they do that thing where Megara gives a king smile to Neris and Neris smiles back XD Megara is angry inside since she hates everything about Neris and even lost Idalia,her valuable pawn,because of her.At least,with Valentin there,Neris will soon face her vicious nature and megara can't wait to see her suffer.
▪︎Isabelle arrives in Neris dorm and gives her a half hearted greeting while she keeps gazing at her bedroom.Neris says she must have not been educated properly and Isabelle apologizes before she can't think about it well.Neris voice sounds just like a command,she sounded exactly like a high ranking noble.When Neris tells her to raise her head,Isabelle can't even speak properly gazing at her purple eyes just like the paintings of the Elandria manor and Neris reprimands her for staring and says she can leave since she has no manners and Isabelle pretends to be docile and begs to stay since she would lose everything if Nelruision and Valentin got a hold of this.Neris then allowed her to stay and started ordering her to clean her sheets and Isabelle became bold again saying she never learned those things and she doesn't seem to know a exclusive maid is supposed to follow her around so she wouldn't have any inconveniences.She didn't thought Neris had knowledge of maids structure,but Neris mocks her saying Isabelle is not of high status enough to be this type of maid that even have a maidservant to themselves.She again tells her to leave since she is not the type of maid she needs and that Nelruision wouldn't sent her a maid that wasn't properly trained,so she must just be stupid.Isabelle kneels as neris commands and begs to stay again,hating every second of it.Neris agrees and Isabelle starts working but she first tells Neris that Valentin invited Neris to dine in the lakeshore.Isabelle knows Valentin is planning something evil and hopes she will thrown Neris in the lake,get a cold and die.
▪︎Neris met an excited Valentin in the lake,she started saying how thankful she is that neris forgivened her and our fl says since she is young is not strange for her to act like at home.She means that Valentin has no manners at home and the little tyrant catches on that but manages to smile and praises neris for being the top student and Neris says she knows that Valentin is clever too.Valentin always wore her heart at her sleeve and didn't hide how she hated her adopted sister,so Neris never thought she was clever until Valentin revealed all the hidden schemes she plotted with her family before she murdered Neris.They walked to a cabin and Valentin says the dinner will be served there.The door is close,but the light inside can be seen.Valentin says ots better to go behind it and leads Neris to a backdoor in a dark space.She tells Neris to go inside but Neris doesn't move a bit as if she is scared and just when Valentin puts a foot inside to show there is no danger,Neris closes the door and locks her in the dark warehouse.Valentin is dumbfounded and only reacts when she hears a rat squeaking and starts shouting at Neris telling her to open the door.Neris is calm and says that this is no way to speak to her older sister and that she knew that Valentin was going to lock her there and that's why she didn't brought a single maid,because she was planning to come back fast and Nelruision would never know.At first,Valentin denies but soon she starts offending neris again saying how dare she do this to a Duke's daughter and that her family won't pay for her tuition after she tells them about this.She screams all the same insults she used to neris when she poisoned her and becomes more angry once Neris call her by her nickname .Neris said that she doesn't know where her pride as a Duke's daughter is,but that her pride as knight's daughter doesn't allow her to not fight back when she is attacked.This makes Neris a little bitter because she crushed her pride in the past,becoming the lackey of the corrupt.She also tells Valentin that she won a scholarship last year and paid back the tuition money to the elandria family,so now her staying at the academy has nothing to do with them.She owns nothing.In the past,somedays after her entrance,Valentin locked Neris is that same warehouse.It was a place so far that someone could scream all they want and not be found.Neris spent the night in the dark scared of the rats and didn't have friends that would miss her,but luckily,someone came to fish the next morning and released her.She didn't dare to confess what happened because the elandria family was paying her tuition.She saw Valentin a week later and she said something like she just remembered Neris was there.Neris didn't understood why Valentin did something like that if she meant so little to her,but now she knows Valentin is the type of person that can't tolerate the small inconvenience.She is after all,the same person who said she would get rid of Megara,her childhood friend,as soon as she became the consort princess.Neris reminds Valentin that Delma will come look for her eventually and leaves Valentin screaming like a beast.It was sunrise when Neris arrived,but now it's completely dark.
▪︎The dorm mansion like where the elandria siblings live is in a fuss because of Valentin disappearance.Nelruision thought perhaps she was kidnapped by their enemies but when Valentin arrived dirty and clinging to him,she explained how Neris lured her out and trapped her and how they should call her right now to have her legs broken and be trapped in the basement.Nelruision suddenly stops consoling her because he thinks she is lying since there's no way that Valentin would willingly walk without a maid be lured by neris since she would have to know where the place was and she was a new student(there were many more plotholes in her explanation,but I don't want to come back to the chapter to explain it all in detail)Valentin tries to look at Delma for help but Nelruision stops her and Delma also tries to lie,but Nelruision says that if it wasn't for Valentin affection for her,she would already be kicked out.Delma was actually the one who planned the trap and made all the arrangements.Nelruision says he knows Valentin can't hide her feelings,so she doesn't have to befriend Neris,but at very least not ruin their plans,(He basically called her dumb and Valentin got it),since neris will be of use,so she should not be touched.
▪︎The next morning,Neris woke up in a great mood.She gave much work to Isabelle the day before,that was surprised seeing her,so she couldn't go to Delma and say something went wrong.Neris is wondering if Cledwyn returned to the academy safe and thinks she should go meet him in person.She went to the library and became engrossed in a book,only to notice sometime later that Cledwyn arrived.She complained that he should have talked to her instead of waiting.She noticed that he was sick too and when he said he would search treatment later,Neris once again reflected that maybe he is not so diligent as she thought since he prioritizes his subordinates times rather than his health.She helped him stand up and said she would take him to get treatment and he asked if she is worried about him.She asked if needs someone to do it and when he denied,she said she won't worry then,somehow this made Cledwyn a little sad.He felt bad when in the year before,Neris had to help him and feel in a trap of megara because she was away.When he heard he came to the library,he thought he had to put her first even if he had to cure himself too.Neris took him to Ren who was dissatisfied seeing Cledwyn,but greeted Neris warmly.The pope and the emperor are the highest status in the land,so unless you were very religious,there would be no reason to he overly respectful to Ren,even if he can be to others,Cledwyn too,because of his status as the former pope brother.His divine power is above average and extremely strong too so he cured Cledwyn soon.He and Neris chatted a bit and she lied of how she found Cledwyn.When she left the room for a moment,Ren started complaining to Cledwyn that he will put Neris in a difficult position if they kept interacting,since he have many enemies and Neris has no one to protect her,and is too soft hearted to ignore people in trouble.Cledwyn was offended by Ren acting like Neris older brother.He didn't knew what he thought gave him the right to do it,and while nerid had her soft moments,he was dissatisfied that Ren who didn't knew her well figured this out.He definitely didn't like Ren.He didn't knew very well why.In normal circumstances he would recruit the capable Ren to his side but he didn't want to and he felt he wasn't one to take orders.Ren actually got rid of the spies that infiltrated in his home and Cledwyn thought he would survive a few more years.《I really hope they keep this relationship of Ren being a protective brother,because I don't really appreciate the sub lead that gets nothing troupe.I hope the reason he is in the cover is for clickbait/fanservice》
▪︎After they left,Cledwyn and Neris walked in a deserted road and Neris told him to not sent letters since she has a new maid and ml asked when can he send again,basically how long she would put with the spy,and Neris siad that as long as she was useful.Neris asked him for someone who would accompany her in the visit to her land.He said he would provide and she was thankful.She noticed that he always does as she says even though she does nothing for him yet.Its not the usual employeer.He reminds her of herself in the past,giving everything to people without thinking of herself.Cledwyin doesn't know what/how people destroyed Neris,but he is willingly to help her even if he can't understand.
▪︎Neris knows that Cledwyn won't stop putting others first because of a few words,and Cledwyn knows Neris won't change the bad view she has of herself after a few words either.The daughter of a knight and the Grand Duke are surprisingly alike.
▪︎Meanwhile,Isabelle has been kneeling for thirty minutes and facing Delma verbal abuse for not reporting that neris came back early and causing Valentin to spent hours locked away.In this dorm,Delma was finally the maid with the highest status and acted as ots owner when the siblings were away.Isabelle is ambitious and dreams to be just like that,a maid who everyone envies,wear expensive clothes and can flatter her mistress favor.She blamed Neris for this situation where she was humiliated in front of the other maids.She thought that because Neris is older,she should just accept whatever younger Valentin throws her way.There was no reason why Neris should do that and no one knows when Valentin would let her out,but Isabelle didn't want to blame Valentin instead and think of Neris as a victim.She felt very persecuted right now.Delma told her to stand up and spilled her drink on her before ordering to give a report about what Neris is doing everyday.Neris gave vague answers about where she was going today and didn't let Isabelle folloe her,so she is being scolded because of this too and was told to discover where she sent to.Delma didn't took Neris seriously before,but she looks completely different than a year ago and she wants to keep a close watch of this girl.
▪︎Neris is traveling with Aidan,a young man of very few words.He does looks like he is over thirty,but from the way he talks Neris can tell he is a student and she wonders how Cledwyin found such a student who looks so old and recruited him to his side.

▪︎The land Cledwyn bought to Neris is very well hidden and there they met Rob,Betty's brother who doesn't seem to be even twenty yet but shows them the land and the work he made very innocently and with pride.Neris noticed that Cledwyin provided things for the hut that even she didn't asked and once again sees him as a generous man.Aidan is pretending to be the noble who employed Rob and Neris is pretending to not have come together with any ulterior motives.Neris will be able to start spelling her groundbreaking medicine very soon.
▪︎Back in the dorm,Neris is saying how useless Isabelle is when she made a half hearted tea because she didn't though Neris would know the difference.This of course enraged Isabelle but she kept firm in her goal of discovering where Neris went to yesterday.Since Neris knew that it wouldn't be strange to someone see her leaving leaving academy with Aidan,she told Isabelle she went out with an upperclassmen to study to a difficult subject.She didn't forgot to say that Isabelle wouldn't know,but studying at the academy is no easy feat.This sets Isabelle furious.How dare Neris be so shameless when she had to ask for money to come here.How dare she look so elegant in every gesture and look down on Isabelle when they have the same status.She was confident that if she were in neris place,she could do much better(you wish)It finally dawned on her that she was jealous of this child.She wanted to end her right here and once she raised her hand to get her,Neris voice became pitiful when talking about the last term.Isabelle thought Neris is a show off girl who wants to be like a lady and complain and be pitiful,and encouraged her to talk saying since she is older,she could help her.Neris made a face as if she was convinced that she could help and told her about what happened in the last semester.Isabelle is satisfied that she have a big news to tell Princess Elandria and can't even imagine that this is all part of neris plan.
▪︎Valentin is enraged after hearing from Isabelle that Megara went out to meet the prince wearing only pajamas.Since she was young,her family said that the highest seat for a woman was set for her and once she became older,she understood it was the empress seat.All the best things in the world were meant for Valentin Elandria but once she heard Abelus was dating Natasha,she could only calm down when her brother promised it wouldn't go against their plans.So she was waiting for the say she would grow to be older and beautiful.Valentin is the unmarried lady with the best status since while Natasha is also a princess,she is not a descendant of the three warriors.So still it was ok with her with Natasha and the prince together,but someone of low ranking like megara tried to seduce him.She expressed her desire to go to megara right now and inquire if its true and scratch her face if she confirms.Her nanny is thinking of how to calm her down.There wasn't anyone who could call Megara Lyceandros a low ranking aristocrat and if Valentin were to attack her,Marquess Lyceandros would not let it go without a fight.But Isabelle is cheering for Valentin hoping to win her favor,and Delma doesn't know what to do when Valentin leaves the dorm.Valentin was actually in her generous version since she would asks megara before attacking...
▪︎Megara is annoyed when she hears Valentin came to visit without a notice.Like most people in society she doesn't like Valentin since she is a spoiled fool.But everybody needs to put up with her since she is a duke's daughter.More important,she is a valuable pawn to push Neris Truide away.She put he best smile and received Valentin as if she was truly happy about her visit.Valentin can't hide her disdain and start talking to Megara that she heard something interesting about last semester.When she talks about the exam paper,Megara thinks she came to complain that she was unable to get rid of Neris,but Valentin starts talking that Megara went around with her pajamas trying to seduce the prince like a low born woman that it's not like both of them,but in a way that makes it stated that she thinks Megara is a vulgar woman.She also adds that she wonders if the education if the marquess became lacking since she brought that commoner woman to his house.Megara HATES that lady that is acting like she is the marchioness.At first,she tried to be reasonable with Valentin,but she can't bear to be insulted.If it weren't for Valentin family she would go her whole life without knowing Neris truide and now Valentin comes here accusing her of being a temptress as if she have the right of accuse her since Princess Grunehals is the crown prince lover.She decided to end Valentin.It wasn't hard for her to smile and pretend she is humble in front of Valentin if she thinks about the face she will make later.After Valentin leaves,Megara goes to her bedroom and apologizes for keeping Alecto waiting.It was rude for Megara to make a guest wait in her bedroom while she talked with Valentin,but alecto was in no position to be treated as a guest.She became very gloomy after being bullied and came to ask megara to protect her and she will be her minion.She knows that even the kids who threaten her today will go quiet with one action of Megara.Megara pretends to be sad that Alecto came to asks her this since they are friends and classmates.She tells her that since they are friends,perhaps she could do her a little favor.

▪︎The next day during the second years class,the student hear someone screaming and Megara,Neris and Isabelle recognize the scream instantly.When they go thought the first year class,they see Valentin Elandria with her hands full of blood and her nanny screaming at a maid like they are in the Duke's Manor and not in the academy,for not being careful enough.Megara and Neris smiling.Isabelle has been looking like she wants to go to Valentin side for sometime and Neris tells her to go find out what happened.Isabelle starts making a fuss and fawning over Valentin,making Delma annoyed.Valentin sees Neris smiling and scowls.She says that someone put a bag with chicken blood in her bag and asks Isabelle if she knows anything about it.(How does she knows it's chicken blood?Where did Alecto even found chicken blood?Did she asked her maid to go into town and buy a chicken?)Isabelle appears genuinely surprised.While like Valentin and Delma,she suspects Neris,she followed her like a shadow in the last few days after she reported to Valentin and there's no way Neris had opportunity to do it.Delma reads it on her face and remembers that the only person with motivation to do something like this to Valentin is Megara.She can see a war is coming and those two ladies will lead it.
▪︎In Valentin dorm,Delma is trying to pin the blame on Neris so that Valentin won't enter in to a fight with Lady Lyceandros,but Isabelle is defending Neris passionately not because she knows she is innocent but because she would be scolded for not avoiding this incident of happening.So Valentin gets to the conclusion it was Megara and starts planning her revenge but she doesn't know what she could do to scare Megara.Then she thinks she can get revenge with another trick.She tells Delma to inform the host of the next high ranking aristocrats gathering that if Megara attends she won't go.Delma is worried because the ladies fighting is one thing,but doing so openly and involving the families is too much.Delma tries to take Valentin out of it,but the little tyrant starts inquiring if delma isn't on her side and since Delma is powerless without Valentin by her side,she steps back.Valentin says they should tell the host that if they refuse,it's their funeral and they won't be invited to the party she is planning.She plans go destroy not only Megara,but Neris too.
《 I just wanted to add something.If Angharad,Riannon and Idalia were a little bit smarter,they would try to become Valentin lackeys.The girls know megara true nature of using people and throwing them away and with the right scheme,they could reveal it all and Valentin has all the means to prepare the right stage and introduce them back to society just like Alecto did with Megara.It's a letdown that they are not smart enough to make it work.》
▪︎Soon enough,all kind of gossip is going around about the fancy things Valentin is buying to the grand party this school ever saw.Everyone know that the guests were only if high rank,wealthy,historical,from count families and above or people at least with a marquess on the mother side.Basically only the creme de la creme.But Neris received a invitation and Isabelle informed her that Valentin wanted them to receive the guests together.Neris stared at Isabelle with hostility as she left and said to neris it was weird that both of them received invitations.Neris assured her that it's not weird for Valentin to invite Diane.Neris knows that Valentin want to either take Diane away from Neris or humiliate them both at the door.Seeing her own invitation,Neris knows its fake.After high ranking children enter the academy,their parents gift them their own coat of arms to sign documents and invitations.If you have a coat of arms,it also means you have a small territory to rule over,so it's a symbol of status.Valentin is counting that Neris will not know her coat of arms since she never signed it before,but Neris saw it on her past life,so she knows it's a fake one.Valentin plans to make Neris embarrassed in front of the other guests for being stopped at the entrance using a fake invitation.Nerid thinks it's cute since she went through way worse things at social gathering and hates them with a passion.
▪︎We have a fladhback to first timeline when Neris was fifteen ot sixteen years old.Megara invited her to a lake tea party and she knew nothing good would come but she didn't felt she had the power to refuse megara.There was no seat to her but she didn't thought it was strange since no one liked her.Megara kindly told her where her seat is and pointed to a coffin.One of her male servants held a struggling neris and out her in the coffin and trowed he in the river.Neris was too afraid to jump out of the water.Valentin and the others laughed when Megara said Neris couldn't move because she was dead.When she went out,Megara have her tea and a dead rat and forced her to eat.Neris became afraid of even the sounds of rats after that day.People always followed Megara blindly and even when she used verbal abuse or violence against Neris,they always thought she was the kindest person ever.They had the double standards that Megara could never be wrong and Neris could never be right,and this gave Megara's followers excuses to be even more crueler to Neris.She is thinking about the past while she tries to guess where Nelruision class is when he calls for her from the hallway.Its time for revenge.
▪︎Nelruision wants to make sure of what happened between Valentin and neris.He thinks that even though Valentin is the most likely to start a fight,it doesn't mean people should fight back against the elandria princess.He pretended to be fair and asked neris what happened with Valentin and by the end of it he was sure that Neris hadn't locked Valentin on purpose.Neris told him that it's ok now and Valentin seems to want to apologize in her own way and sent her an invitation to her party and to them to greet the guests together.Nelruision knows his sister too well to think she would do this and sees the invitation and knows its fake.He is more angry that Valentin would do a trick with no real reward than the fact she is touching neris.Neris purple eyes are not enough to put her on the throne,so if Valentin goes around showing that elandria family doesn't care for her,it will be problematic.Neris also made an uncomfortable expression and asked him if Valentin and Isabelle are close since it always seems like Isabelle knows what Valentin wants to tell her and it was Isabelle who gave her the invite.Nelruision didn't told her the invitation is fake and he knows neris is smart but thinks she is too naive and that's why people always attack her.He assumes that Isabelle has been comparing Neris and Valentin and not doing her work properly.He tells Neris that they aren't close but if she made her feel this way,he will deal with it.
▪︎Nelruision usually doesn't show his angry face,so Valentin is scared when she comes back to the dorm and he starts saying he knows about the prank and that once again she disobeyed his orders and if she is going to be like this,she can forget her party.He also wants to get rid of Isabelle now that he knows she is going against his orders so he adds that if wasn't for Isabelle that knows what it means to serve her lady,he wouldn't know that this happened.Once he leaves,Valentin and Delma are enraged and call a servant to drag Isabelle there.Isabelle have no idea of why Valentin is calling her a tattler and that Nelruision found out about the invitation.She and Delma start saying things like she is a dog and if a dog bites the owner can get rid of it and get a new one.She flinches and can't believe how much malice Valentin and Delma have.Delma tells a servant to take Isabelle things away,whip her harshly and leave her outside of kathen with her belongings.Isabelle feels it's unfair and screms that delma is a servant too.Delma laughs saying that she have no power to go against it,but if she runs right now,she could escape from the beating.Isabelle glares at them furiously before running and Delma calls another servant telling him to inform the lord of kathen that Isabelle is running away because she tried to steal Valentin's jewels(KARMA)
▪︎Delma asks if Valentin will really allow Neris in the party and Valentin says she can't back down now because of Nelruision.Her brother said it's for the family,but she is not buying it.She thinks Nelruision might actually care for Neris.(At this point,I think so too.He never did much when she was bullied even more harshly in the past,but now he is like this...)
▪︎The day of the party arrives and Diane is astonished at how fancy everything is.Its a party with intention of showing power.Valentin pretends not to be dissatisfied seeing them both.To be a high ranking noble,you have to be at least a count,but Valentin only invited counts children that have families with a long history and influence,thus Alecto Islani was excluded and Neris and Diane should never even be considered,so she is not happy about it.Neris thanks Valentin for the invitation and says that even though it's early,Diane came together so she hopes its ok with Valentin.After Diane's,the first guest, enters the ballroom,Valentin masks falls and she tells Neris she can just stand behind her and be quiet while she greets her guests and when she says so she should enter to be with Diane.Neris pretends she doesn't see Valentin rudeness and smile and thanks her.Valentin says to do as she says while she is going easy on her and Neris smiles asking when she ever went easy on her,thinking about the past where they took even her life from her.Before Valentin can't answer,a footman says that the Grunehals siblings are coming soon.Valentin is angry when Neris takes the seat of honor saying that it's because when she invited her to be co host,it mean she acknowledged her as part of her family and since Neris is older,she should take the seat of honor.Its not entirely wrong,but the thing is that it's meant to people who are or will be directly related,like a fiance or future in law.Before Valentin can do something,the Grunehals siblings arrive.Valentin thanks them for coming and when Natasha notices Neris,she thanks her too in a manner that makes her seem more elegant and like the legitimate host than Valentin.Natasha can guess that Nelruision had a hand on it since he took a liking to Neris and smiles,finding this situation very entertaining.
▪︎In his way to the hiding spot,Cledwyin thinks that the voices of the students outside remind the sea and think back to some months ago.Maindulante is part of the empire only in name,since it have its own history and geography.Many of the nobles there have an older history than the Grand duchy,so that's why they are so feisty and ready to get rid of the heir that doesn't move as they want.Cledwyn spent a week fighting against two of the elders who allied themselves to his grandfather.It was the first time he saw the sea of his land but he got sick of it after hearing the sound the whole week.But now,it doesn't feel uncomfortable.As he arrives in the place and finds Neris sleeping in the chair,he think like this place feels like salvation and stares at her face for some time.Neris felt Cledwyn presence and woke up.They shared some words and she thought a little before asking him something.

▪︎She thought really hard about it.She arrived in a part of this new life that she finally was able to do things that will change her future.She made sure Megara and Valentin got on bad terms with each other and wouldn't ally themselves against her.Even Natasha was wary of Megara,and Nelruision was handling Valentin the way she wanted.More than that,she met good people in the past and she met good people in the present.Diane that was almost killed by her relatives but is still kind to others and Cledwyn that is always generous to a girl who did nothing to him yet.She is still not completely sure,but she decided to give a leap of faith.But then she hears a voice she will be betrayed again,that she will be ripped to pieces again and pay a terrible price for trusting others.Its a voice of despair.Its the voice of the thirty years old Neris.Cledwyin is surprised and puts his hands on her face thinking she is sick or was poisoned when can't speak about it.He calls Talfryn in his magical chair(that the same guy with who he always communicates and that told him neris actions are weird.)Neris says she is ok and there is no need to inform other people.She says she just had an unpleasant memory and Cledwyn asks if it's a memory of the people who destroyed her.He asked him if his mother is one of them and she assure that not,her mother always loved and protected her.Neris told him not to ask anything else and he was disappointed that she was now willing to trust him more,but he could understand since him and his subordinates are just like her.Neris is a difficult book to read and he knows he can just leave it be,but he doesn't want to.Even if he can't know her past,he can still knows her present and as the future goes he can learn more about her and what she hides.The reason Neris asked him this is because Nelruision is getting more interested in her and its dangerous.Neris tries hard to ignore the voice saying not to trust because despite everything,she truly sees Cledwyn as a good person.She thinks he is just like her who always did her best for the people.
▪︎Cledwyn promises to protect her mother.Neris asked him to do with once things calm down after his graduation.He says he will be graduating early and so he will take Madame Truide to Maindulante territory.It's rare to an student to graduate early because you need to be at eighteen and get written letters from five teachers saying you have nothing else to learn.They are still at the beggining of the school year and Cledwyn is seventeen,so he will be graduating in the end of this year.Neris says she plans to do the same and asks if she can go to him once she is done.Cledwyn smiles and agrees.Neris also smiled without noticing.He kissed her hand and said he would leave this chair behind and infuse it with her magic so she can communicate with Talfryn if she needs anything.He says that after he leaves,this seat will be solely hers.Neris thanks him.It doesn't feel bad to receive permission from the original owner to remain in the place that was her solace for so long in the past.He kisses her hand again and unlike the first time,he lingers there for a while before rising up and saying that he looks forward to working with her in the future.
▪︎Walking around her dorm,Neris thinks its a familiar and unfamiliar space.Its the same room she stayed for so many years,but there are books from classes she didn't take and dresses that were gifted by Diane.Neris made a surprising discovery.It didn't matter what trick Megara tried,it became meaningless is she had at least one friend by her side.In the past,she had not a single person to say she was being treated unfairly and so she just accepted.Did her classmates truly hated her?No.They only wanted to feel superiority and since Neris wasn't treated as human,they had an excuse to satisfy it.She thinks back of all those girls who tried against her this year and their motivations and excuses.From now on,all her days,would be the same as in the past but she would face them in a different way.Abelus,Nelruision,Natasha...there's nothing she can do about them right now,but just wait for more five years left until she graduates.Thats what Neris Truide decided.
▪︎Priest Adam(the good,stern and stiff priest) is giving Ren Fayel his own parish and is surprised why he would go to a small parish in a rural area that no one wanted for him to go after his graduation.Ren became very engrossed on his studies and even manipulated things so the current pope got rid of his spies.He thought he would step into the center of his problem,but it seemed like he was hiding.It was not that though.This parish was in the town of a priest who was very close to him and his brother that resigned from his priesthood many years ago.There are other people of his late brother out there.Ren had no family or wealth,but he knew where was the only key for his survival.
▪︎In a small chamber,Talfryn regulated the chair to work to Neris only and asked Cledwyn if isn't easier to take her with him right now since many people are out to get her and there's no guarantee that she will be safe.Cledwyn tells him that Aidan will stay behind and Aidan can't even believe that he will leave his most talented henchman behind while he goes battle against death.Cledwyn know Neris can handle her classmates and right now,he needs to handle his vassals who went stray.By the time Neris graduates,he would have a place ready for her,where she will be safe.
