If you have watch the adaptation of Wheel Of Time, Blood Origin and Rings of Power. You’ll understand my dislike of Madam Web. I ask you. Why? Why do these shows/ movies don’t follow source materials. They seem to take what they want like it was a buffet and make their own meal. I mean why not just make up your own materials for a series/ movie. Why ruin a wonderful work of literature like that. It’s like desecrating a beloved war hero memorial. Madam Web is a good movie if they left out any Marvel references. You won’t believe how they twisted the characters. I almost felt sick that I watched it. Even thou I had no idea what it was about. The only things similar to this movie and the characters from Marvel is their names. Dude that is so wrong. Sorry for the rant. What’s your thoughts?
I saw the trailer and just went nope, I didn't really know about madam madame web anything beforehand and the movie certainly doesn't seem to be doing any favours and if it's as any good as you say that's a huge wasted opportunity Marvel is gotten soo deep into this multiverse shiyt, interconnections here and here, you need to watch this show to understand the lore of that movie, methinks even the hardcore Marvel fans are not into that
Lol Marvel Cinematic Universe is dead. I might entertain the movie, but only for the big titted lady in tights.
I like your rant. Cause what you said is true. Novels, Manga and other literature especially history that becomes a movie almost always gets changed or skewed by directors, producers and in many cases by screen writers who get paid to make scripts out of books even if they might not enjoy the work they doing
The best adaptation I know of is Death Note, no other anime to movie adaptation stayed more true to the source material. if you want a real answer, its name recognition. its a bait and switch strategy in a sense and also why there is a focus in media in general on sequels and remakes rather than new IP. they are counting on people recognizing the brand they are skinwalking and then going to watch/play their corporate sponsored fanfic. most of these things are made by literal who directors who you would have never considered even watching anything from unless you are hanging out with friends and really bored for whatever reason.
Surprise fanfics I never asked for. It's like they went to AO3 for inspiration and picked all the worst ones.
this! n the fact that many ppl enjoy perversion whether in comedic (parody) or serious (da vinci code) tone. in particular i enjoy revelation graphic novel by paul jenkins / dark horse also consider these 2 extremes: - on 1 extreme we have shameless plagiat: their dish looks like, smells like and tastes like spaghetti, yet they insist its an original recipe - on the other extreme we have ignorant: insisting that ground beef + tomatto sauce is spaghetti. sometimes even replacing the meat with flour (cost cutting) most literatures are derivative of older literatures. most prefer to stick to the tried-n-true formula: tolkienian, lovecraftian, dc n marvel reboots, isekai, what saddens me is the fact that many ppl are too lazy to read the source material n consider the 1st material they view as the canon. talking about the material would be like talking about the same page of different books; some surface level similarity yet fundamentally different. we can talk about contradictory facts n we both are right. the middle part of the serenity prayer: ... serenity to accept what can not be helped ...
I agree on certain parodies. They play to cannon. There are some parodies that are even better than the OG. I know of a few Dragonball parodies that worth reading. I’m ok with that. Especially if they keep to the main timeline or close to it. Even the characters can be different. As long as it matches the source material. There is a need and want for parodies, but it should complement the source material. NOT go against it. Spoilers be warned! Madam Web. They play hard on spider people being around since ancient times. But as any fan of spider man will tell you. Spider man was the first. Sure many came afterwards, but spider man was first. You can see that every time Jonah Jameson opens his mouth. There are countless other examples, but I’ll stop there. As far as the 3 spider girls. Lol. They show up way later after spider man. Which is funny considering this movie starts before spider man.
read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ezekiel_Sims n https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man:_The_Other Spoiler: reboots: did i say white? sorry, i actually meant black kinda like the other; alas, it was (for the most parts) rebooted by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man:_One_More_Day) how many times has jean grey died? a quick search yield 15x. writers across decades can't follow predecessors scripts n made excuses: clones, skrulls, hard reboots. one more day is a terrible reboot house of m is a bad reboot secret wars had spotty executions, but for the most part is a good reboot. on dc side: crisis on infinite earths is meh infinite crisis is nicely executed - though i think superboy/man prime is reused excessively afterwards. flashpoint is terrible; very subjective since for (me for) the most part flash is wally west. barry allen is a small footnote of the past. things to like about ww: chester, becomes frenemies with his rogue gallery, having twins, the growth of bart allen completely agree on this. well, i didn't chime in to defend the movie anyway.
You’re absolutely right. Many comics are like that. Sure there’s the main, but the spin-offs are at least most of the times possible. Considering the fact inhuman powers exist and all. Some begrudgingly leeway can be justified. Clones, doubleganger or whatever. Can still be possible. Highly unrealistic, but nothing says it can’t happen. Just as long as it makes a little sense. For example The Wheel of Time tv series. The One power was totally twisted. Madam Web movie is the same characters that are twisted beyond recognition. I mean Madan Web was a constant companion of spider man. Let alone the Beyonder. I’ve already mentioned the spider girls. All I’ll say is it’s so twisted it makes no sense
