where and when I read it:

If i remember correctly this story used to be on that one platform that locked chapters behind paywalls and was known for less than fair contracts with the writers on their site... i guess that doesn't narrow it down (haha) especially nowadays with multiple platforms with that model. to specify I read this story whilst it was being uploaded on an older(if not the original) version of this type of platform between late 2016 - early 2019.

    how and why it ended:

the story ended in a rather abrupt way wrapping up in a few rushed chapters that can be summed up as the MC getting a power-up and overpowering everybody, the story ended this way due to the author having health complications, luckily we were close to the ending anyway.

    story:

I don't remember anything about the plot

    mc:

The MC has metal affinity and eventually uses lightning to get stronger.

    side characters:

    I only remember 2.5 characters.

    1. one of the MC's friends/ main cast teammates is a plant/wood cultivator.

2/2.5. one of the more important relationships for the MC is an old man and his wife, the husband is defiantly an inventor( I'm unsure if the wife was too), the wife is the stronger of the pair but I can't remember if the husband is weak because of an injury or not.

    power system:

in the story cultivators' abilities and progression are linked to their specific elemental affinity which determines and limits the types of technique and cultivation methods available to them. this is further complicated due to their cultivation and techniques being locked behind a fairly unique depiction of meridians that also determines and facilitates their techniques

i also remember that there are some special meridians that everybody has that are even more important to their cultivation, particularly the order that they are opened in with the first being especially pivotal.
