Hi, I've been reading a CN novel for a while, and I think it's kind of amazing, and feel bad english readers can't read it. Am I allowed to just translate it quickly and share it, or do I need permission from the author etc.
I mean it’s like mainly done illegally without the authors consent but you should tell the readers at the end to read and or buy the authors work when it’s in their language
Nice, thanks alot!, I also saw that some people said that it's fine until you get a DMCA warning, and as long as it's not translated offically anywhere else, it's usually fair game- Now I'm wondering how to make a translation website. I have no idea at all about how to go about it
You can reach out to translation groups and ask if you can upload your translation to their sites and you’ll probably get payed for doing it too
With proper translation groups they will give you a person to check the quality of your work and correct any mistakes you made which is helpful cause you might not notice some errors you’ve made
A benefit of a group is that a lot of the little stuff will be done for you (such as next/previous buttons and the list of chapters on a table of contents being autogenerated...) You can do it manually or buy a theme that would do it for you as well, but based on your questions, I'm going to assume you aren't tech savy yet to know. A free Wordpress is a great place to start. So is blogger. (Would not recommend tumblr - I see a lot of fan groups on Tumblr go poof quickly). I wonder if anyone had ever hosted the actual chapter contents in discord before... now that's a funny thought...
I’ve seen MTL groups host their epub files on discord and tie access to activity level - its actually pretty smart.
