Don't be surprised anymore, double standards are real xD The ML should be a perfect one who never loved anyone beside the FL and should be a simp with an unchangeable personality even if he had a trauma he should act like that xD I'm looking for spoilers then find comments about " ML is trash for loving another woman " and " the author control is an excuse not to hate characters " I believe you guys need to read the usual cliche stories about revenge and/or about how the FL beats the white lotus, don't go for a serious and refreshing plot Thank you all for the spoilers ✨ the story seemed interesting from the beginning and actually if we do a little further thinking of all the circumstances 1- if Edith thinks of taking divorce/ let's skip Killian's affection for now and focus on her circumstances Lizzie's characters control > Edith behavior And if she does, Lizzie would make her suffer more by implying or accusing her of doing things + the fact that she has nothing not even a loving family. The author basically gave her the perfect circumstances of a typical villainess that could be hated by the readers and they'd not even think of having any affection towards her. So when the author fell into her own creation she found it fun as if she's playing chess or moving her own puppets according to her play 2- 13 Edith suffered and no one knows where the previous 12 ones go unless they got completely erased from the world which is truly sad ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ and ngl the fact that Lizzie wasn't punished enough for what she did /tho her ruining her own repetition is fun to see/ it still doesn't make up for the others who suffered for her own selfishness 3- Edith did suffer, and the characters of the plot had to repeat 13 lives just to satisfy her (Lizzie/the author) '-' and that's truly sad in it's own way, I saw some hints that Killian did remember a little of some other Edith in a previous life which means they're heavily controlled in their behavior I won't talk about the others especially the duchess, I thought she was in Edith side since she stood for her when she got accused of leaking information and saw how humble she was when choosing the necklace but the duchess went into Lizzie side and — just why @-@ Usually, I drop a lot of transmigration stories or don't even read into them cuz before everything, the FL lives a perfect life because she's like literally cheating since she knows the plot and if the characters around her act human they'd start being called trash tho they know nothing about the plot unlike the reader xD
nah they didn't give enough justice in chapter 20 of the manhwa the scene was SO HOT in novel I was screaming when I was reading it but still the illustrations are pretty Spoiler: I almost gave away my self respect and was about to make this panel as my wallpaper
Yeah weel, it was quite disappointing how Liese didn't end up being executed as she always threatened Edith with execution. But on second thought it was also unfair, if she was executed it would only end in death, but having her live and losing all the things she longed for would make her suffer even more for a long time to come. Sometimes staying alive is suffering or a more painful punishment I even had to look several times to confirm the whereabouts of the Ruby pendant. It is a very unfortunate thing to be removed from the story
I am seeing many people becoming disappointed that Lize wasn't executed but I disagree. Staying alive and suffering was the best ending for her. Lize was obsessed with being the "perfect main character" and always feared being old because then she won't be perfect. I actually like how she dug her own grave because she was so obsessed with following the original even though FL told her not to and now would have to see herself becoming less perfect - the worst nightmare of he's becoming true. I actually hope she has a mirror in her room and can see herself becoming 'less perfect' everyday. No one loving her and getting stinging gazing from everyone for the rest of her life is the perfect ending for her. Also, when the story would be completed she would turn back to the starting of the story which means she never grew old nor knows any future beyond the ending of the story so she would always be in fear what would happen in the future and this fear, for someone like her who is scared of unknown - will defiantly and slowly eat her up throughout her life. A very thoughtful ending for her by the author imo.
Here's the information regarding Linon: Spoiler: Linon In the novel, Linon wasn't really mentioned until after the document scandal. He worked on taxes and such in the basement area and he was a kind supportive "employer" figure to Edith (as someone who was neutral and didn't judge her). He wasn't a secretary figure constantly reporting to the Duke. He also doesn't have a crush on her (he actually likes the maid Anna). The novel made a point of highlighting the fact that he was well trained by his father to not get involved in the messy drama of his employers or fall in love with the brides of the sons of the family - just keep his head down and plug away at the work. Regarding what happened after Lize's true face was realized... Spoiler: Lize after she was exposed After Edith cleared the restrictions, the Duke and Duchess did become uncomfortable withhher actions. However, they couldn't really challenge her becoming Cliff's wife because of an upcoming event wherein they let Lize wear one of the family heirlooms to a royal banquet. Said heirloom was given to the sons of the family's new brides to wear for their first major event after marriage. Killian was quite upset about it and protested it, telling Edith the meaning of the necklace (Edith didn't care much since she didn't have high hopes and just wanted to wear her Ruby necklace because to her it represented the chance Killian would show her mercy in the future). After allowing Lize to wear the family heirloom necklace to a royal banquet, the Duke and Duchess couldn't really oppose the marriage of Lize and Cliff without it being a slap of their own face (Lize did make everyone pretty miserable though). Cliff married her because he's a bit of a yandere figure (but not quite as extreme). Honestly, both brothers have obsessive tendencies - as Edith constantly points out in the novel, the original novel is written to have all of the MLs (sub MLs included) be obsessive. Cliff didn't care that Lize wasn't as pure as she portrayed herself as. In fact, he was very ready to kill Edith if it would make Lize happy (which created quite a bit of tension between Cliff and Killian). When Cliff married Lize, he promised he wouldn't ever bring up divorce first. He only became miserable after Lize started shamelessly trying to get with the prince. Also, people say that Lize had it too easy because she escaped death. Honestly, I'd say that death would be a mercy for her. Her greatest fear is not death but of aging and finding her beauty and youth fading away. In the original world, she overdoses when she feels that people don't see her as a perfect angelic being anymore. Her novel (the one she and Edith are in) was a wish-fulfillment novel with Lize as a self-insert character. She wants to be obsessed over and loved as an angelic main character. Being forced to grow old shunned and ignored is the worst kind of life she can envision. It's also good for Edith because after going through everything, I don't necessarily consider her the most mentally stable individual (for good reason, the events she goes through would be quite traumatizing) and for her, it gives her peace of mind that there exists someone like her in this world who once knew of a different life in a different universe. I also find the dynamics between Edith and Killian to be quite cute and funny. Spoiler: dynamics of relationship between Edith and Killian Edith: Edith is basically forbidden by the system to tell Killian about her character setting so he knows nothing about it. Therefore, stuff happens to her and she just accepts it. She is also convinced up until the end of the novel that Killian is just a good guy™. She thinks she's survived this long and is thankful that Killian hasn't divorced her. She also enjoys looking at his face and isn't opposed to sleeping with him when he's in the mood as a side benefit of said marriage. Killian: From the beginning of the novel, Killian has been sexually attracted to Edith (he was confused, upset, and felt a bit insulted when he found her asleep in the bathtub on their wedding night but he doesn't know why). He's honestly a mix of horny for Edith and denial that he loves her at the beginning of the story. After a while, he does realize that he's the horny one while Edith (who he thought of as a seductress) is quite innocent and just enjoys his company. He also spends a large part of the novel feeling a bit of self-hatred. His sense of duty tells him that he should take care of his wife. However, his wife doesn't seem to rely on him for anything (on account of the restrictions by the system on what Edith can say/do). So he basically becomes more and more desperate to prove to Edith that she can trust him and is distraught that she doesn't tell him anything (he has to find out while propositioning her that she's been bullied by the Rigelhof maid) while she runs around carelessly like a carefree girl. In the end, he even has obsessive thoughts about her, like planning to smuggle her to his future land holdings and hiding her there until she gives birth to his child before letting his family when he's searching for her (after she was kidnapped by the Rigelhofs then left behind by Cliff when he rescues Lize and the Duchess). After Edith surrenders and gives up, he even tells her that if she had been able to escape to the cities she had marked as potential refuges, he would have continued searching for her until he found her even if it's take years. By the end of the novel, he's realize that he's an obsessive and possessive husband toward Edith but he hides it from her and doesn't contain her movements because he doesn't want to scare her off or disappoint her. He's also a bit shocked that she thinks he's just taking care of her because he's kind and she's a pitiable person he'd feel bad divorcing with his sense of honor (he proceeds to show her that she is wrong and he loves her with a day of activities).
I am realy sad as a fan of marriage of Convenience manhwa i kind of Wished that this manhwa artist will give us two version one for the little kids and one with lots of smutty scenes to give justice to the novel and satisfy our inner snu snu demons what a shame that it Didn’t Happen
I think the Rigelhoff's mine should have been given to Edith, not to the Ludwick Duke, to account for all their mistakes towards her. Plus, she was still the only Rigelhoff left. Thanks for the reply. It's still a bit weird. So the conclusion would be that Cliff really loved Rize, and it was not bcz of the restriction. Even so, if you fall in love with a pure hearted girl and find out she's the complete opposite and she was pretending the whole time you fell for her, can you still love her? She's basically not the person you fell for. Anyway.. If he loved/was obsessed with her, why did he become miserable after marrying her and fell in love with someone else easily after the emperor separated them? I doesn't fit with that yandere trait he displayed before. yeah, tho some small differences - those MCs are good characters (like even if they have revenge or scheme and stuff, they're not evil like this Lizzie). They're also usually smart/talented in some field - I don't get why Cliff fell for Lizzie in the end? It wasn't bcz of the restrictions (he was still obsessed with her after they were lifted), it wasn't bcz of her character (she was pretending the whole time) and it wasn't bcz of a specific event of bcz she was Cliff's savior or sth. On the contrary, Cliff had a perfect life before he met her and it was actually her that was saved by his family and treated great by Cliff and the rest just for being pitiful and "pure"
Uh. It's heavily implied that he knows Lize isn't pure. He literally creates an opportunity (on purpose) for Lize to set up an "accident" to kill Edith. This was way before Lize started losing control of characters other than Killian. Spoiler: Boat accident Cliff tells Edith that Killian loves boating and "hasn't had an opportunity to go boating yet this summer". He then encourages Edith to ask Killian on an outing because he "wants to monopolize Lize and it'll be mutually beneficial". He then turns around and tells Lize about the trip and the night before, when Lize "asks" him to help her search for "an earring she may have dropped when she last went boating with Cliff", he gets to message and distracts the boat keeper (purposely spending an excessive amount of time looking for an earring he knows isn't there) so Lize's hireling can steal the key from the boat keeper's cabin and sabotage Killian's boat. This results in Edith falling overboard during boating trip and almost drowning. She only survived because of Killian. He became miserable because she was going after the prince and not satisfied with merely having Cliff's love. As for his second marriage, Cliff doesn't really seem to love her? He's more described as "comfortable" because they respect each other's boundaries and his second wife is good at fulfilling the duties of a Duchess.
No. The author has lost 33% control but still has 66% control. The spell is only broken when Edith passes all three conditions. Incidentally, the first condition is to "follow the plot and fail". This Edith fails because instead of being chased out, Killian sleeps with her (previous Ediths passed this by following other parts of the plot and "failing")
I read the whole story through mtl. I was very surprised to see this kind of plot in a k-novel. Very rarely does the main character get beaten down and crushed, have all the odds stacked against them, and triumph through sheer will and luck. And it wasn't complete torture porn and misery, there was a good amount of cider to balance out all the tears. Edith really struggled for her happy ending, but in the end, it was worth it. My character review: Edith: Magnifique! Not only is she a strong and determined character, I like that she's not 100% hardass like how some authors like to write strong female characters. She's vulnerable in endearing ways, kind and empathetic, clever, bold and confident, and no matter how many times you knock her down, she keeps coming back. One of my favorite scenes is the date at the opera, where she blatantly told Kil that once she made a decision, she wouldn't look back, and she definitely wouldn't kill herself out of regret. Women are a lot stronger than you think Kil. It was such a "Yass Queen slayyy" moment. Some might complain that she was too nice to Lise, but Edith is nothing if not practical. Why make an enemy out of Rise while Cliff and the parents are still obsessed with her? She'll just be shooting herself in her own foot. So she decides to let the Ludwig family deal with the new Lise, while she goes off to live happily with Kil. Killian: He grew on me. Although I couldn't love him from beginning to end since he was brainwashed through 80% of the story, I liked that he fought the brainwashing every step of the way, and stopped to examine his own biases when they acted up. He even suspected that Rise was the culprit even while Edith was still making excuses for her. He was playful, sexy and frustrating at times, but he's a good match for Edith and was never boring. Plus, he's surprisingly emotional, flirty, and pouty for a ml in one of these stories, a lovable tsundere. One of my fav scene is near the end when all of his family members were convinced that Edith was a spy. But he's like, even if she turns out to be a spy, I'll just secretly carry her down to my estate and impregnate her, then the Duchy wouldn't be able to touch her. What can I say, I like a little crazy in my mls Lise/K: Complete nutcase, but an entertaining villain. The embodiment of narcissism as the novel describes her. In a way, she's really pathetic, and I understand why Edith told her to get a life. It was very obvious that she would self destruct if left to her own devices. Everyone can live their lives just fine without knowing the future, but she was too weak to do even that. Think about it, the novel's plot seems to take place over about 10 years, she repeated the story a few times, got bored, then tortured new Ediths for 13 lives. Even just counting the original possession and the 13 Ediths, she's had 140+ years to figure out how to be lovable like the real Lise, yet she failed so miserably. The moment she no longer had a script to follow and her real personality came out, she was so unlikable that all the people who claimed to love her started avoiding her like the plague. Now because of her arrogance and stupidity, she gets to watch her beloved Lise grow old and unloved in a monastery. I know readers wanted her to be tortured and executed the same way she tortured the Ediths, but I do feel that keeping someone who was terrified of growing old alive is also justice, although it's a shame that her downfall was only shown in the side stories. Cliff: Typical asshole male lead, but I was very supprised by the plot twist that he knew that Rise was up to no good all along. He noticed that she was a special existence and fell in love with her as a whole, even her crazy and manipulative side. I thought he was just a one-dimensional fool that'll fall out of love as soon as it was revealed that she wasn't his perfect princess. But he stuck by her, so good for him. Too bad the special secret Rise was hiding was that she was actually a pathetic sore loser. His mysterious goddess turned out to have the worst personality and she constantly cheated on him and guilt tripped him. She ruined his family's reputation, wasted money like water, and made his parents miserable. He was foolish enough to sign a contract promising to never divorce her, cause he thought his love would be enough to tame her. He was a character created to obsess over her, so he struggled to escape from her the most. But he was the only family member that gave Edith a sincere apology, so I was happy to see that he was able to move on.
I read all the available chapters in the manwha and read enough spoilers to understand the situation. I honestly am dissapointed with our MC. You know even until the end she did not suspect Lizzie. Ofcourse it's the author's problem, not the exact character. Well should've know. I mean until the end? You mean you could't figure it out even then? I am going to keep my days in peace by deciding to drop this. Then again should've known.
She always suspected Lise. She brushed it off during the document leak and forgery case, but by the time her thread was poisoned, Lise was her #1 suspect. She used other plausible suspects to convince the family, since she knew that they would never suspect Lize. The boating accident clearly pointed to Lize, but she couldn't figure out what Lize could gain from hurting her. She took precautions on the outing with Lize, but as usual, she only receives flashbacks of Edith's memories at the most inconvenient times, so she had no idea she could get kidnapped in broad daylight with plenty of witnesses, and nobody would help her because of some unspoken rule. Edith is never given any hint that the author could be one of the characters she interacts with. She assumes they're a literal god in this world looking down at her. She assumes that Lise is being brainwashed to act out of character. Yeah, it might be obvious to us who deliberately spoiled the story for ourselves, but the site I read the story on had a few comments that were supprised by the big reveal. So obviously, to a Korean reader reading the story in the og language with no spoilers, the story hides the fact that Lise is literally K quite well.
This Edith literally thought "the author" was a higher power like a god. I don't think she even knows the original author is dead in the original world. Her only interaction with "the author" is through the system whenever the author sets a new condition for Edith to meet (the second and third conditions have to be set by the author within a certain time limit after the previous condition as been cleared). Edith also knows that the author has control over the characters. It's not unusual for her to just assume Lize is also acting under the author's control (instead of being inhabited/possessed by the author). This can be seen in the title of the novel: "I thought this was a common possession". She didn't think that the author possessed another character.
Chapter 21 skipped very important interactions between Killian and Edith (rip character development) In the novel After Edith leaves work Killian was waiting for her in her room with the dolls that Edith created of the two of them and there was a cute interaction between Killian and Edith …he also invited her to dinner before Rize appeared saying that there was a meeting with Cliff..so they didn't have dinner together and that's when Cliff called Rinan. They skipped all of that
one of the main reasons I sometimes don't like manhwa adaptations. Like skipping these "small" scenes ruin the character tbh
