I have a question regarding the person Eileen was talking to in chapter 334. They are delegates from the Bretus Kingdom. What was the gender of the arrogant one? DeepL and google translate keep switching their pronouns and title and based on what I read priests are primarily women. And it was said that the "deputy priest" couldn't be a priest so is it because they are a man or are they just not skilled enough to be one?

I have no idea where else I can bring this up, but:

I'm on chapters 234-236 and... Wow lmao. Merylda finally got Selina to take MC out on a date and there is so much stalking and misunderstandings going on MC ran into Merylda and Selina after he gets roped into trying out clothes by Violetta, and when they end up on the date, Merylda stalks the duo, who then gets stalked by Hans who then first spots Casey and kids going to the restaurant and she and MC spot each other and they think they're stalking each other and Selina and Casey have no idea who the other woman is so there's some interesting thoughts flying around

 

On MC's mana:

It isn't as low as you would think. It's just that he cannot use much of it as it is invested on maintaining his seal (and sanity) against hearing the gods. When it reaches critical levels, he begins to hear more and the deity can reach out and 'love' people to death as we can see when he deliberately let it loose on those who targeted his people. MC has the skill to cast 6th level spells when using enough mana items. And given that the mana poisons where only relatively recent inventions, he couldn't have obtained his skill and practice depending on just those.

On his alignment:

If pushed, I would say that he is chaotic neutral bordering on chaotic good. He doesn't have much faith on the established powers by virtue of being an outcast as a bastard prince in the heart of a religion very much against illegitimacy. He cares for his people and is willing to kill for them, but he doesn't go out of his way to do evil things either. He is chaotic in that he holds to his moral code rather than what society demands. He is no bleeding heart either as he is willing to off beings he considers dangerous like the experimented werewolves. But he did to make sure to off those behind the research aside from those too powerful to kill without prep.

On Freuden and Rene/Line:

Freuden didn't find out until later about the truth behind the killing of Rene's mom. He knew that Ludger killed her, but not why. On a second confrontation, Ludger revealed to him that those bearing Rene's and her mom's gift die young from being unable to express their magic. They experience great pain and then waste away. What Ludger did was basically euthanasia and seemingly at Rene's mom's own request. One of Ludger's objectives now is to find a solution to this issue. He's found out that the one's behind the inability to express some magics is the Lumensis Church who worked to expel the other gods and remove certain knowledge from the world. Even Grander didn't realize that her own memories have been tampered until it was pointed out.

Which brings us to:

Spoiler: The Relic

The Ancients who sought to go against Lumensis set out a plan to bring them down using The Relic. Somehow, it can be used to bring down whatever taboo the Lumensis Church set down. Ludger got the one from the auction house. Princess Eileen allowed him to take the 2nd one from the palace. During Sedina the half-elf paper student's arc, Ludger got the one that the elves' guarded. And currently, Ludger is seeking the fourth in the Dream World.

So is the plot about Isekai Anti-Hero Rudger/Ludger indirectly a Harem Story or not?

I would really prefer it, if these major female characters don't have a crush on the same man.

 

Whats the need for harem all the time? a few of the girls like mc but he couldnt care less about romance atm.

 

It's more of a "potential" harem. Rudger is a mysterious, talented, attractive young man living with pain and sorrow, who hides his kindness under a cold exterior. If I remember the female-oriented romances I've read, he's basically the quintessential male lead material, so it's not weird to have any number of women attracted to him. All he needs is wealth - oh yeah, he has that too. But, that's all. The women in the novel are attracted to him, admire him, and some of them want to use him for their own purposes. None of the named characters have enough love or need for him to accept a harem. Well, maybe Sedina, but she has no self-esteem and no one to rely on but Rudger, so she doesn't count here. I think most wouldn't even go out with Rudger if he asked.

It's just that Rudger has a huge impact on the world around him, and the author enjoys writing about the reactions of female characters more.

That's highly reductive and proper treatment can make even make the driest premises workable in the hands of the truly capable. But I do feel you as I also hate seeing most of works working on that frame. However, I do like this one (though it does have its moments). After the initial introduction arc, each arc does seem to heavily push a female character into the limelight. But for all that author is throwing affected females at Ludger arc after arc, he is just as unaffected as a Celibate Hero and his relationship with them has mostly always been businesslike aside for certain exceptions due to backstory guilt. It almost feels like that the author is just placing women there coz they know most power fantasy readers want those kind of sh*t so he's throwing them a bone.
And to those asking for files, the booktoki links still work just fine. The ongoing translations are apparently just edited MTL anyway so going GT on that site pretty much gives the same thing.
