A child is not a nail
That you can hammer down with your fists
Whenever you need to vent your anger
A child is not a sack
That you can kick and punch with all your might
So you can get their so called obedience
As if your child is a slave with no freedom
A child is not a pair of shoes
That you can step on whenever you like it
Because you believe a parent is the highest being
And forgetting that even a parent can be a child's nightmare
A child is not a doll
That you should whip just because of a cry
Or just because of a C on their test paper
A child is not a musical instrument
Which can only work with a slap
Being a child doesn't mean they don't feel pain
They can bleed from a cut
They can bruise from a punch
They can break from a kick
Their skin can tear from a whip and a slap
You were often beaten, kicked, whipped, and slapped
You say that they make you strong
Yet here you are
With unfinished inner child and traumas you never want acknowledge
But your child is the one who has to pay for it
Trembling when their teacher knock the whiteboard with a marker
Close to tearing up when a friend raises their tone
Can't breathe when a glass break
Frozen and limp when someone looks mad
Insecure and full of fright
Don't make your child pay for your traumas
They don't want to hurt you
They're not here to kill you
And you need to break free
Acknowledge your trauma
Don't repeat what your parents did
God forbid, your child make their child pay for what you did to them.
