So I've been trying to take back control to my life, one step at a time, starting with health. I'm doing this in particular by watching what I eat and forcing myself to exercise regularly. I've never been one for exercises. To me that's a masochistic hobby :v you feel the pain, rejoice at it, and seek for more. Tell me it's not masochistic! Unless of course there's a hot girl you can ogle that makes the pain worth it, then I can understand.
Anyway, I wanted to take back control of my life. I've been spoiling myself and letting myself drown with my impulses, my emotions, and my surroundings. Letting myself be shaped into what I don't intend to be.
It's unsatisfying, to be something I don't see myself as, to be something I don't want to be, and that leads to stress.
So, I decided to join a Pilates class near my workplace.
Today's pilates instructor started the class reminding that it isn't about speed but form, perfecting the move. Feel each muscle, each joint, each move, and control them. From there, you will come out stronger. Life isn't a race where you try to do things fast. It's about immersing in the moment, and getting it right, one at a time. And from there, coming out stronger. Don't pursue speed at the cost of losing control of your movement, of your life. Don't get swept up with trying to be the fastest that you're not doing your body good (or at least not making it better).
Don't look at the other people, look at the mirror, and focus. Life is ultimately about you. Success is never meant to be measured compared to others. Life isn't meant to be done trying to be another. It's about you.
"Do your best." "Push yourself, it's just a bit more."
"Remember what you came here for."
These words keep reminding us of our goals, our hopes to be better in life (and at pilates) and to grit our teeth for that goal.
"Your best is good enough"
This was done at the end of the session. After the hard fight going against challenges and struggles, know that somethings are out of your control. You've taken the control of your life and done your best. Satisfaction comes from self acceptance. And your best, is good.
