Ryul quietly accepted the offered drink from Pierre as he inwardly felt mixed emotions about Urlagrod.

It's been a while since someone's hit on him this straightforwardly, and the half-elf was a bit rusty on how to respond.

Ryul felt a slight blush rise to his cheeks as he saw the huge orc reject the girl in favor of keeping company with himself. He bit his bottom lip as he saw Urlagrod chug down yet another drink.

Eventually, the half-elf half-heartedly said, "...that's quite the compliment, but maybe you should slow down on the drinks."

Ryul subtly gave the orc another quick once-over as he bit down a bit harder.

 

"Don't like alcohol?" Urlagrod looked at May's physique and realised she was a little too young, and nodded to himself. "Fair enough, then! I'll drink your share!"

He then proceeded to down his seventh pint of orc ale.

"Slow down? You must be mad! I usually manage at least twenty of these little poppers before I go down! Ain't that right, Pierrre?"

Urlagrod smiled as he boasted about his tolerance to alcohol as he wrapped an arm around Ryul's shoulders nonchalantly. Pierre could only nod knowingly.

"Ow, my back." A tired gourd stumbled in, pack of flavored bread in hand. He sat on the counter's edge away from the rest and sighed in content. "Pierre today? Strong brandy, please. Chilled."

 

As Deanna was walking out, she felt two intent stars on her. Turning towards the stares, she spots two strangers who she never met staring at her. “Yes?” She asked.

Ryul was quite amazed as he chugged the next drink and glanced over to Pierre to confirm the orc's statement.

As the arm came over his shoulders, the half-elf didn't know why he didn't refuse such bold advances. Maybe it was the atmosphere, maybe it was something about the orc.

He smirked a little, "So Urlagrod, why don't you tell me a bit about yourself? I can't say I'm not interested in where this is heading towards."

Ryul didn't even notice that she had left. He was busy with other things.

 

Not far away a gourd was enjoying his generous mug of brandy, with a totally normal side of sweet bread.

 

Deanna looked at the girl who was half a foot shorter than her. “Hello,” she greeted.

 

"About myself? Why not?"

Urlagrod removed his arm and changed his sitting position, straddling the chair and fully facing Ryul.

"I'm a part-time C-rank adventurer who works full-time as a librarian. How about you? I feel like I've seen you somewhere before, but I can't quite recall."

The orc lifted his tankard and drank slowly as his eyes stared straight at Ryul - taking in his handsome features.

Lethe quickly handed Ryul two of his precious Grandma Gene's Gorgeous Gingerbread Cookies for Ryul to share with his new friend(?) as May whisked him away.

As May settled down, Lethe looked at the girl and mumbled out: "Sp'nge cake?"

Elaine cannonballs into the tavern, accidentally tripping over a chair on the way in.

 

“Oh,” Deanna said understandingly. She takes out a sponge cake for this stranger before handing it to her.

 

Urlagrod hears the clattering sound and looks at Elaine on the floor. He laughs at the situation and says to Pierre

"Give her any drink she wants as compensation for the embarrassment, ha ha! Only one, mind you."

He then continued to look at Ryul as he waited for his response.

A gourd turned to see the commotion, spotted Elaine, and nodded in understanding as he return to his drink. He pulled out a slice of roasted octopus from a smaller paper bag and popped it into his mouth.

Ryul's blush deepened as he felt the orc's burning gaze. He was quite impressed by what he learned about Urlagrod and barely managed to realize the fact that he needed to respond.

"Ah, me? I'm a novice adventurer myself. I'm trying to go down the path of a scholar though..." Ryul trailed off as he continued looking into Urlagrod's eyes.

Ryul silently thanked Lethe with his eyes as he accepted them, casually handing one over to his "new friend" as he slowly ate one himself.

Ryul was still oblivious to the goings-on around him.
