Since i'm currently looking to have websites auto toggle to a native darkmode theme matching the OS setting i just made this userscript for the main page https://greasyfork.org/scripts/445361-novelupdates-auto-darkmode Would be nice if admins of novelupdates incorporate something like the following plugins. For the mainpage - "WP Dark Mode" https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-dark-mode/ and for the Forum maybe - " Style Switch - Xenforo 2 1.0.0" https://xenvn.com/threads/th-style-switch-xenforo-2.329/
You can already change both NU and the Forums to Dark Mode, so I don't get the point of the suggestion.
Yes. There are Dark Mode themes. What i would like is to have an automatic switch between light and dark mode theme depending on native OS state. Example You could try going to youtube.com . If you are using windows and have the extension Auto Dark Mode from the microsoft store you could temporary force dark mode to see the automatic switch. The same is possible on android if you de-/activate dark mode in the settings and are looking at the website in a browser. Similar effect could be achieved with the browser extension DarkReader, but that is not using the native theme of the corresponding website and has a slight overhead on the CPU
Seems like unnecessary trouble. It only takes a handful of clicks to toggle Dark Mode, and your settings are saved between sessions. This is only relevant for your first visit to the website, so it's too small of a benefit to be worth Tony's time.
Thats why i could write the userscript for the mainpage. That's removing the few clicks to change the theme during daylight and again during night or whenever the OS changes to dark mode. The forum seems more complicated to do by a userscript
What a shame. Haven't seen any easy quickfix/userscript for the older version too. Than I'll just keep using a permanent dark theme or use the DarkReader addon for dynamic dark mode styles. Thank you everyone for the quick answers
