Hello!! Does anybody knows how the coin system works? Like paywall in chapters and exchanging coins to read chapters... If anyone out there has any ideas or experience then I would like to know about those things. Thanks in advance ~
^^ yeah it depends a lot of times on the website, myself i see this more often in official websites/apps like tapas and stuff. If it's an official reading site it'll probably have some kind of coin system but i haven't run into any group websites that use a coin system. I think it's bcs they don't profit much off it, they use patreon which is better earning imo. Pay to read ahead or read extras in patreon, i wouldn't call that a coin system though
I ran into a couple of them. Some are translating JP or CN stories. I think the name is Xetrov Translations or sounding close to it.
The coin system part is easy. Coins stored on a user's account is used to append a related page to the account with the unlocked content. It's linking it to a donation system that's not as straightforward.
if a coin system is incorporated, that site is ineligible for having their chapters pop up in this site. no paywalls, no locks. until it is freely unlocked, even for non-account holders, chapter release doesn't exist. i think i know what site you are talking of
Webtoon, you pay for certain number of coins, buying it by phone credits or via e-wallet apps (connected to google play) The coins then can be use to unlock next chapter(s) of the toons you read
websites that use coin system are usually removed from NU which might be why you don't see them removed as in releases cannot be seen paywalls I have seen: flying lines, chaleuria, webnovel, bilibili comics, webtoon etc the bigger companies usually have chances to get chapters for free but if you want to read more you still have to pay real money. But it's hard to see if a it's legally translating the novel (such as flying lines), so if you pay for those sites you aren't really supporting the author. you might want to check more carefully before you decide to swipe your card
i know~ nuf offers links to free novel translation groups but i usually hunt for novels outside of nuf if nuf doesn't have it linked then some other group sites might have it and i haven't run into one that uses a coin system
not many groups use coin system. they mainly use it when they gain certain fame to maintain a steady stream of readers or at least that's what I infer from the paywalled sites I know
There are some translators ( for popular Kr tower novels ) that do a fund Once total donations = X amount Release x extra chapters that week to everyone
