Glad I'm not the only one. Been a big fan of Shadowrun for ages now, but even the new Shadowrun games never really stroked that itch, ya know? Mass Effect was very pure Sci-Fi, but didn't have the same sort of human foibols and grit that a dystopian near sci-fi cyberpunk setting does. I'm way drooling over 2077. Sadly, I'm not sure when I'll be able to buy it, much less run it. My computer is pushing several years old now. *Cries*
It seems pretty respectfull to the original tabletop game and lore, and it look pretty but I'm not convinced by the fact that they made it a FPS, there is already way too many games with a FPS gameplay around, why couldn't do something more original ? There always this feeling of loneliness around when you play a FPS, especially with awkwardly or easily glitchable scripted secondary characters around. Guess we'll really play a "solo" in this game... And many FPS make me seasick after a few dozen of minutes... Never been able to finish any half life or bioshock because of it...
Personally I think the 1st person presentation is a callback to the Ultima series and also a business decision to leave the option open to "upgrade" to VR once the platform matures.
Ultima ? What's the connexion between ultima and cyberpunk ? And ultima 1st person perspective was a dongeon crawler type (go for any Legend of Grimrock or Etrian Odyssey for a modern version of this), not a FPS type. If you want to see a game that might have motivated them to go FPS, you should talk about bethesda for the new style of fallout since the third opus.
The FPS gameplay, driving around etc all seems pretty lackluster. Instead of that mess, the game will totally hinge on the storytelling and immersive world. The glimpses of it in the video are pretty great, and CD Projekt Red did fabulously with the Witcher series in terms of storyline and the consequences of your choices, so... Looking forward to it.
