I thought it'd be filled with nothing but fluff but it has tons of angst apparently.

i think the character's development is slow paced and detailed?? 'cause this novel is LONG, so the author has time to develop the characters and unravel things one by one. the novel is written in mixed POVs (mc + ml) so their feelings are quite detailed imo.
the Gong(MC) and the Shou(ML) is... complicated?? there's admiration, hatred, regret, misunderstandings, angst and stuff. ML hides everything inside his heart which makes MC misunderstands a lot (this is where a lot of the angst branches out)

Why was Mo Wei Yu(MC?) such a bad ruler before he revived? Was there a reason behind his acts?

 

Another incoming question, in the synopsis it says how the MC deeply hated the ML in his first life but in actuality, the ML had been protecting MC from the shadows.

Why did MC hate the ML so much in his first life?

Also, has the ML always been protecting the MC throughout his life? or did ML only start to protect him after MC went crazy as a ruler??

my guess is that Mo Ran / Mo Wei Yu (MC) is full of hatred? he thinks that people look down on him. he thinks that Chu Wan Ning / Shi Zun (ML) doesn't care about him. a lot of incidents happened, making Mo Ran believe that Chu Wan Ning is a heartless, cruel, goody two shoes person.

ML has always been protecting MC. from the first life till his rebirth till ML's death. it's just MC who's misunderstanding things and jumping to conclusions.

 

It's only just being translated only the 1st chap is out. I'm a desperate gal who thirsts for more info
