You just need to divorce the association of 'smh' from 'snobbish superiority' and let that conclusion be reached by the strength and validity of the points they bring up in criticism. I know people who in text messages use 'lol' excessively and can't help but think they are illiterate and brain dead before i stomp that weak line of thinking out... but then i look at my text messages and see the same thing sneak through at times. These acronyms have evolved beyond just what they literally stand for, but beyond that after a fair amount of time online they become a habit that is difficult to drop even when the person may not intend to express that meaning. Some people will say Lol to something that elicited a chuckle or even a smirk, i find it similar for other internet shorthand and slang. Just divorce your presumption of what the word says about people from the topic at hand and let their points speak to their intelligence or snobbish superiority as opposed to these acronyms that i find to be more habit that anything else.
I thought smh was somehow I'm a teen tho , maybe I'm behind my times. keyboard warriors have nothing better to do with their lives
I only saw smh in joke/sarcastic post so it doesn’t really bother me. I usually then to ignore them though, as it is only feeling and nothing to debate with.
Probably cause I watched a few YouTube videos with rather touchy subjects where the most insightful comments were “the human race is truly moronic. Smh ” and stuff so I look at all acronyms in an excessively biased light
We all have pet peeves At a time "lol" used to piss me off Because there is no way these people were really laughing out loud But as I got older I learnt to let some things slide and how to be a chameleon. Smh is infantile in my opinion But letting it piss you off is overkill and not worth it
I don't mind it but I don't think you're stupid for not liking it. Everyone has at least one thing that annoys the life out of them. On here mine is people who attack other people's reviews. I've never had anyone come at me for it but it's irritating as when I come across a novel I think I might like to read, scroll down to read reviews and run into fight club instead. That's enough for me to move on.
At times, the words "hate", "bigotry", "sexist", "racist", "-phobic", "anti-Semitic", or similar are used way too easily. Honestly, it can be hard to be express disagreement on something without having such labels applied to you.
here here! lul lol trololololol smh this cat not mind it~ cuz this cat trained to search essence among trash.... by eliminating thing that this cat think is worthless then find main point to move discussion~ mediator is tiresome
Why let it annoy you? Does the concept of being seen or treated with disappointment or contempt get on your nerves? If it does, then it means that you're, in a way, acknowledging their treatment towards you as something that is true. S. M. H.
For some reason, i saw it as smg which is 'something'. After looking back again, I realize i read it wrongly. Thanks for the info
