I personally use an electric fan to achieve two goals. The first goal is to keep me cool while I sleep since I get too hot if I just lay there, and the second one is to create white noise so my family can't hear the clicking of my laptop keys as I furiously type out the massive and overly complex outline of a story I'll likely never finish or post. Fans also have a decent set of components, making them worth far more then the screws you can get out of them in fallout. I've also used them to hurt my fingers when I'm board. Anyone have any other uses for an electric fan you can think of?
I don't know... Portable usually implies that they don't need to be plugged into an outlet to run, and most electric fans I've seen lack any power storage capacity.
You can play with them, you turn them on and then speak into them, making your voice sound like a robot. XD hehe, my parents obviously didn't provide me with any toys when I was growing up. ^.^
No matter what toy you would have been given, every kid would spend a lot of time projecting their voice into a good fan. It's just fun, and it helps with learning.
Portable, as in lightweight and movable (can be easily set up and detached). At least, within your house, u surely don't lack elec. outlets, right? Also, take a look at https://www.newair.com/blogs/learn/six-of-the-best-uses-for-your-electric-fan.
Remeber that an AC relies on the transition from liquid to gas in freon to produce an endothermic reaction, cooling the environment around you. It you position a fan next to any evaporating liquid you should be able to get the same effect cheaply, as long as you're not using heat to do it. Even water could work if you set it up right.
I use a fan at night to cool me off/white noise too. I now can't sleep unless it's on because otherwise it's too quiet. My sister also got me a small fan that runs on batteries to use outside. Other uses for fans... they're useful for spreading confetti I guess?
Electric fans are great. They're easy to repair and lighter than those god damned air conditioning units. But what kind of fan do you have that it can drown out your laptop keys sounds? Ai-chan's fan is very quiet. As for uses, you can break out the old broken fans and if you can fix the dynamo, you can use it to make a windmill for power generation. The same dynamo that turns the fan can also be used the other way around, to turn the fan so that the dynamo create power. You can also bond with your nieces by making weird sounds in front of the fan.
