Monster Hunter is a simple action fantasy series about... hunting monsters. If you played any of the games (especially the first game on PS2), you'll probably love this. I would say that it's a slice of life, since the novel just tells the story of the hunters' daily lives (for the most part) and there's no overarching plot to speak of. No grand adventures to save the world or anything like that, just normal hunters doing their everyday jobs. Edit: Acutally, I take that back. There is no overarching plot, bit the first three volumes do have self contained plots that wrap up within the volume. The fourth volume is an extended epilogue and a collection of 5 shorter stories. These novels also have pretty detailed world building and expands on aspects not seen in the games. Fair warning: Don't expect any OP-ness from this series. As of this post, the translation is at Volume 2 Chapter 2. http://www.novelupdates.com/series/monster-hunter/
R-13 it is. No hot scenes or NTR. I hate stories based of games. It's like watching anime where they show tits and booties and even shaved pussies but they just won't go any farther and play with your feeling. I mean it's already Hentai, you don't need to put limit there.
Can't say the same for this particular series though. It's still ongoing with 10 or so parts (55 volumes total) focusing on stories of different sets of characters, and they're all connected in some way. Besides, the main games they're based on (except one) don't even have stories.
monster x monster is a good fan spinoff, you guys should check it out i beleive the author is the same guy who made the zenithian nipple manga (a 2chan/pixiv manga series because japanese memes)
You could check out monster hunter orage while you are at it, is a manga based on monster hunter that i kinda like when I read it years ago
Almost though this is the discussion about the game.... Dammit Play MHP3rd in ppsspp No romance tag? Maybe later...
There's also another manga series called Flash Hunter. It's in the same continuity as this novel, and is adapted from a novel with the same name. 10 Volumes long, but you'll have to buy the official release since fan translations are only up to Chapter 3. I'm not really sure if it should be included or not. There's a very little bit of it, and it's not that relevant.
Ah, sorry. I meant the inclusion of a romance tag. I personally don't think the comedy tag should be there either, but someone else thinks it should, so maybe the romance tag will be added in there later when the translation reaches a certain point.
A little update on the translation progress. My speed is slow, as you can see, so I'll be posting first drafts of each scene on my Google Drive in case anyone wants to read ahead. After a chapter is done, I will then revise my translation and post it on Baka-Tsuki. Here's Volume 2 Chapter 3, Scenes 1&2. https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/0ByTOB0gqvyjtWDNSNVdCNDBUaUE Update 2: Chapter 3 Scene 3 Uploaded on Google Drive. Full Chapter 3 also now on Baka-Tsuki. Update 3: Parts of Volume 2 Chapter 4 will be uploaded to this Google Drive folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0ByTOB0gqvyjtVEt4bmxhb3BmcUE?usp=sharing
I'm really liking this series. I already imported all 4 Japanese volumes of this and a few other series, but I'm also following the English translation so that I can fully understand it.
