Hello, I want to ask because I really don’t understand. Why are there people translating an already completely translated novel? I put my reading of The Founder of Diabolism on hold for a bit, and when I looked at it again suddenly there are two different groups re-translating this. It’s not as if the links are dead and they can’t read it anymore, the links are still there and working, or that the translations were bad. So I want to ask: why the new translations?
Fanyiyi seems to be translating it because they want a version that reads more fluently/professional. I don't see any explanation as to why the other new translator is also trying to re-translate it.
So... apparently there are different types of translating. One is to have the wording as close to the original as possible. The second is to make it more native sounding in the new language it’s being translated into. The first completed translation was the first type. I believe the new ones are attempting the second type.
With how downhill Asian novels have gone the past couple of years. My guess is that they'd rather translate a decent novel which was already translated before. Instead of picking up a new one and suffer brain damage.
then there comes the question of why they want to post it on NU is there a need to post an already translated novel just because you want to translate something good? are you doing it for the sweet sweet cash? no one knows the answer to that
Might also be translating a different version? The novel has several different published versions (mainly due to varying censorship), and likely some different extra content.
That would be something worth reading then if it's new content. But if it's just to change the wording though...I read the story well enough the first time.
