Hi, I recently picked Warlock of the Magus World back up. When it first came out I started reading it but dropped it soon after for reasons I no longer remembered. From the reviews I read the complaints are mostly about three parts: no romance, heartless protag and the a.i. chip. The first two didn't bother me at all, the third one would be ok as long as it was just for experimentation and research as I read in the reviews. So I started reading and very quickly realized why I dropped this at first, the blasted a.i. chip. He relies on it for everything, even uses it to beat a few random scrubs at the begging when he clearly stated that he would have no problem taking them on. For everything else I don't really mind, but even for fighting? What so the protag is only as good as the instructions the chip gives him? Why have a human protag then? Just have a robot or something if he will only follow instructions. (Actually would love to see a CN novel with a robot protag) Slight rant aside, my question is: will the protag stop being so reliant on the chip for fighting? Thanks in advance for your answers.
.....Are you serious ??? It's the only MC I ever know , who could manipulate all the other characters be it evil or good people to reach his goal.
No lo hará, el propósito final es saber cómo será la evolución a nivel del alma para la I.A, ese es su segundo objetivo, el primero es ser inmortal para comprobar lo segundo y hallar su mundo original
The answer is no. He always uses the chip. Dunno why people have so much problems with the chip. Other MC's have multiple cheats they constantly rely on such as- Eidetic memory. All knowing super powerful spirit grandpa/girl Phoenix blood, Dragon body etc etc These guys use their cheats just as much as WMW MC. Its just that he has one main cheat, while others have several of them. So you need to read about the chip more often in comparision. The chip frankly makes more sense compared to MC's who get multiple world defying cheats just walking arounf.
Then you aren't reading enough novels. Out of the top of my head I can think of Dungeon Defense, but I'm pretty sure that I could come up with more given a few minutes.
Well, to me, this AI chip is better as the mc only relies on it and the novel shows that it is relying on it. The other novels rely on countless huge lucky chances to succeed*serious emphasis on countless and huuuge* Seriously though, how lucky can they get lol
What? You don't like reading AI Chip is MVP? You wish for him to realize his reliance and try to go at things with his own power? Hmpf, Leylin isn't such a naive hotheaded MC that would give up his advantages just for some pointless inane pride. He isn't the sort to be unsatisfied with such a thing; He has far more pressing matters to take care of.
It´s easy just think of the AI-chip as the actual Protagonist and you´re fine. The novel itself is to good to be left alone
I usually want to avoid novels where MCs are reliant on cheats, but the cheat itself isn't the main reason. The reason is that he does not use the cheat to assist him in doing something. He uses the cheat to tell him exactly what he needs to do and will succeed as long as he doesn't deviate from the instructions. That I don't like. It feels like the MC does not have autonomy. It isn't a battle, it's an instruction following practice.
WMW is a more 'big picture' type novel. The A.I. chip is one of the greatest plot devices you can have and Leylin utilizes it to great effect to get what he wants. Other novels use plot devices 2 gain a competitive edge on the people around them and act like it's thier right or privilege murder, steal, lie and cheat thier way to the top while still claiming to be good because the 'world is against them' . This Novel is just a bit more honest and less cringey than the rest lol
Actually what I really hope for is a Elric de Melniboné (Michael Moorcock book) ending and the AI chip doing it like the sword Spoiler: Ending In that book the magic sword used by the MC betrays him at the end and even absorbes his soul...
He is the mc bro! Sure he uses the chip a lot but the things he does and plans he devises are his own. You should know that he was a scientist in his past life, and scientists use all kinds of tech to do research. It's literally like having an ai chip, he thinks of ways to get stronger, devises a plan, takes action and uses the ai chip to supplement those actions in the best way possible! I don't know why people get so mad at him for using the only op thing he has(ai chip), remember, he has average talent in magic..... Why shouldn't he use it....!
I'm not talking about it being out of character the MC using the chip. I would probably use it to if I had the option. The issue I have mainly comes from the fact that I won't enjoy the story like this. What I mainly like in cultivator stories is the comprehension of martial arts or other techniques. A novel where everything is spoon-fed to the MC, even the very act of fighting has a constant tutorial, I most likely won't really enjoy it. Same as I don't really enjoy most CN novels where the only different from the MC at the start from the MC at the end is that they went from lvl1 to lvl9000+ and everything else (intelligence, skills, character) remained the exact same.
Welp, I'm mostly aware that the chip will always assist in combat... Does he get into fights a lot? Or is it mostly behind the scenes scheming?
