This novel is the first(and maybe the last) mtl that i ever read. I read the novel at wikia(I think) Last thing I remember, aporou soloing aquatic? dungeon or age of gods labyrinth. When he fight the whale? floor boss, 99% of my brain cell has died. Which day is it? Did the mtl get better? Should i continue or give up? Thanks in advance
It does? I gave up on reading it (at the wikia like @TheLastAeon ) and am waiting for the slow as molasses manga to release more.
Just because more people edit it doesn't mean it gets better. I was one of the people who TL'd the chapters from ~125-190 or so (until the author's bad grammar drove me insane and made me give up on it, heh)...and I know for a fact that there was a "translator" on that site that modified chapters 145+ with their own TL that was horrendously bad, tbh. About flipped a table when they translated "one-handed swordsman" (see: Longsword User) as "one armed swordsman" (as in a swordsman with one arm). -_- Even if I edited out that TL with the better TLs that already existed, they'd just come back and edit it in again...so I eventually just said screw it and stopped touching the place altogether cause I didn't feel like dealing with all that BS, heh. I have a very hard time believing that things got better over time with that sort of crap going on, but it's been like...4 years...since i even looked there, heh. EDIT: That said...the whale chapter was between Day 195 and 205 IIRC. ^^
Sorry, can't remember what day it was (years since I last read). But as far as i know up to day 260 should be translated and readable. Other than that the quality is both good and bad. With one chapter translated with editing the next is pure GT while the one after is MTL with or witouth editing. Thos most chapters should be readable, you will find some chapters unreadable among them. Should be posible to read up to about day 400, tho I forgot to check the last time the TL progress page was updated... https://re-monster.fandom.com/wiki/TL_Progress?mobile-app=false
Honestly I wish a proper translation group would just take the Wikia and give it a good cleaning. Because there is a lot there that has a lot of the leg work done and just needs a good group to hit it home. The idea of an open source translation worked great for a while but once old translators left and no new ones really took their place the project just kinda dried up.
It became a diary of which skills he got from eating what and what he fused. Then who he porked and a list of evolving members lol.
-_- yeah...it was great at first, but after enough chapters, you want to shove him into a black hole to see if he would survive.
The main problem was that while the premise was great the writer had.... nothing else to work with. Because of the diary writing format it was overly restricted to the MC's POV which can work in some cases but given how the story becomes more and more about the group the writing style doesn't fit the story. You can tell with how the manga adaptation does it's best to add in dialogue from others to help give them more presence. So we had weak character development and the story kept taking a back seat to "meal time with the MC" because there was just nothing else. OF course saying all this IS talking about the web novel. The LN apparently had quite a few changes including some tougher fights for the MC. But as far as the web novel is concerned it leaned too hard on it's premise of the MC eating to get stronger and forgot to do ANYTHING else a lot of the time.
