I'm new to the whole light novel scene. SAO isn't the only novel I'm reading/wanting to read, but recently, I've wanted to read SAO, since I hear there are alot of things you miss in the anime that you read in the LN. I see that it starts at the v17 interlute... but where is the rest xD
Due to YenPress licensing it, we can't post any links to it. So basically scavenge the Internet or hope that someone points you in the right direction. Usually searching stuff like "SAO LN English Download" on Google will get you a good result.
haha, i watched the anime and then read the ln's, but i started from the alicization arc. its very interesting and i enjoy it . you could try it, because you dont really miss much. but sao progressive is good i heard, you could try it too.
When I first watched the anime I was very perplexed. The series was well below average and at its best it was ridiculously dumb. I heard a lot say that the "novels are better" and that they provide more lore. So I borrowed the novels from a friend who happened to have them and gave them a read. The novels are not really that much different from the anime. Some events are depicted a bit differently, and there is a lot more expository fluff but that's about it. All in all, not recommended. They're about as generic as they come.
Let me just recommend reincarnator, master hunter k, sovereign of judgement, empower of solo play, and reign of the hunter as novels you may also enjoy.
Yea, the "novels are better" this time was out of habbit I suppose ;p Well, I did enjoy my share of SAO, but I have to admit, the first volume was the best. And god bless the writer, I think they would be even better if he took his time. Did not do that bigass time skip after the beginning... went deeper into first game-world and did not end it too fast. It might be cliche for Big Bad to appear at floors 99 or 100, but I'd still read the heck of it. And to be honest if the first game world was 3-4 volumes deep... sigh.
Its better to start from the beginning. And also start on SAO progressive. Both are highly addictions g
Yup ... I enjoy reading SAO too ..the first ARC is the best of all. i don't quite get the creator stuff ..but i do enjoy " clearing dungeon floor by floor moments... and the protagonist growth"
take this with a grain of salt. people tend to over or under rate this series. in my taste it's completely average. author knows it's not innovative/fresh, and just rides the tropes to give an enjoyable experience. to most people, who go in without requiring it to be a life changing experience, it's a good enough read to kill time tho he's 100% correct that most novel exclusive content is just fluff. i suggest to watch the anime and then transition
It was just all timing. That year was 2012. Occulus Rift (A VR)was about to release. The world would have ended, as everyone was "hoping" for. The big 3 (Naruto,Bleach, One Piece) generations were in decline. So you need something new. That's why SAO, Attack On Titan, One Punch Man came into the stage. Nothing new. At its time, SAO was one of a kind anime. An anime about complete VR, with harems and actions (what else do you need), & a good story (@list till First Season). To say that, SAO ignited the harem genre is not completely wrong.
i'll have to disagree on harem ignite. the harem genre stayed strong since at latest tenchi muyo. never really died down so giving ignition credit is weird. not to mention twgok, demon king daimaou, monster musume, and others all stand out more as harem leaders
I got pdf's 1-16 + extra stories just pm in conversation or something. Yeah, about v17, it's big so there is interlude and like 1 chapter (I think??) cuz its fking long. Like the rest of alicilization arc. Yeah, I just realized it too when I saw v15 and I was like "huh only 1 chapter? where's the rest?"
