Since season 1 is done. I'll try to do character bios and basic storyline developments. I will leave out certain plot spoilers to allow for some surprises when reading the series. I've never done this before, so pray for me and the spoiler tagging. Main Characters: Spoiler: Lapis Lapis: Our MC. An untalented aspiring holy knight who failed the holy knight entrance exam many times due to her lack of strong divine powers. Her origin is wrapped in mystery as she does not remember her life beyond the last 9 years. Lapis seeks to become a holy knight to lift the curse on Magicians left by the Dark Lord, after accidentally summoning the Dark Lord, Lapis works alongside them to collect the fallen "stars" that compromise of the Dark Lord's heart - with the goal of finding the secret behind the cursed marks. Lapis hides the fact that she has also been branded by the Magicians curse. Lapis divine weapon is a broken sword that allows her to "restore" the space around her to original condition. Age 16 Spoiler: Lapis Backstory Lapis is the reincarnation of the true Dark Lord, Deitasterra. An ethereal being who brought peace and harmony to those around her. Although, she was only able to communicate with Calla, she gathered a host of followers who deeply loved her. After she was betrayed by Arvena, Calla, her favorite of followers, took on the role as the second Dark Lord. The legend of the Dark Lord's shattered heart is of Deitasterra - not Calla. A thousand years later, Binari's tears and voice awoke Deitasterra from her long slumber. Age 1,000+ Spoiler: Calla Alastair Calla Alastair: The Dark Lord of legend that was defeated by Saint Arvena. The Dark Lord's heart was taken by Arvena and made into a constellation. Calla, herself, was imprisoned for a thousand years at the end of the continent until Lapis accidentally summoned her and freed Calla from her imprisonment. Calla now works with Lapis to find the falling pieces of the Dark Lord's shattered heart to regain her stolen power. Age: 1,000+ Spoiler: Calla Backstory Calla is the second Dark Lord, taking on the role after Arvena betrayed the first Dark Lord, Deitasterra. Calla was once the beloved, youngest disciples of the original Deitasterra and seemingly the only one who could directly communicate with her. Calla cannot lift the Magicians curse as she was not the originator of the curse. Calla loves the first Deitasterra completely and remains forever loyal to her master. Calla also cares greatly for Lapis. Spoiler: Mapharam Han Mapharam Han: An apprentice knight at the academy. Mapharam is childhood friends with Lapis and Binari. Due to being childhood friends, she knows that Lapis is a Magician with an unknown origin. Mapharam is from a servant family tied to Binari's family. She wields a divine sword with the ability to use fire. Although rough around the edges, Mapharam is a loyal and kind friend to those around her. Age: 17 Spoiler: Binari Han Binari Han: An apprentice knight at the academy and the childhood friend of Lapis and Mapharam. After finding Lapis on the shoreline of a lake as children, Binari's voice reaching out to her was Lapis first memory. 5 years prior to the story, Binari's home estate was ravaged by a massive Dark Beast with the appearance of deer-like antlers/an elk. After being separated from Lapis during the attack, Binari and Mapharam have been searching for this dark beast to destroy it and discover the truth behind the assault on her home. Binari is kind, loyal, intelligent, and a highly perceptive friend to those around her. Binari's divine weapon is a staff with healing properties. Age: 16 Spoiler: Hector Lim Hector Lim: An apprentice knight at the academy. The son of a former Holy Knight accused of treason against the royal family. He knows the truth of Lapis being a Magician and decides to protect her secret. Hector's divine weapon is a bow with the ability to shoot ice arrows. Age: 17 Spoiler: Hector Libere Hector's true name is Hector Libere. After his mother was accused of treason and his 3 elder siblings were murdered, Hector was left as the sole survivor of the Libere family. Hector was forced to take the surname Lim as a result of his family line being branded as traitors. Prior to the treason accusations and Enoch's Knighthood, Hector and Enoch were childhood friends. Spoiler: Myosotis Myosotis: A small blue bird Lapis saved from a dark beast. Follows Lapis on all of her adventures. Holy Lampas Kingdom: Spoiler: Saint Arvena Saint Arvena: The holy saint of legend who stood against the dark lord. The first ruler of the Holy Lampas Kingdom. Spoiler: Saint Arvena Backstory Arvena was originally the first Dark Lord, Deitasterra's, 13th disciple. She betrayed the Dark Lord and her fellow disciples to create her own Holy Kingdom. Arvena stole Deitasterra's dark power and passed it off as Divine power. Divine power does not exist. Spoiler: King Georges Lampas King Georges Lampas: The current ruler of Lampas as of 5 years ago after the previous Queen died of illness. He is the father of Charlotte Lampas, the 4th princess and the younger brother of the previous Queen, Sinclair. Spoiler: Former Queen Sinclair Lampas Former Queen Sinclair Lampas: The reigning Queen until 5 years before the start of the story. Queen Sinclair was the mother of Enoch, the second prince. She died from a mysterious illness. Spoiler: Queen Sinclair's Death Queen Sinclair was secretly killed by a Holy Knight - Hector's Mother, Hecabe Libere. The Holy Knights: Spoiler: Enoch Aither Enoch Aither: The youngest of the four Holy Knights. First met Lapis after she summoned Calla. Enoch stood up for Lapis and allowed her to retake the Holy Knight exam. A former member of the Lampas royal family, Enoch abandoned his family name and his right to the throne to become a Holy Knight. As a royal family member, Enoch is a direct descendant of Saint Arvena. Spoiler: Enoch Lampas Up until 5 years ago Enoch Aither was Enoch Lampas, the second prince of his mother, Queen Sinclair. After the death of his mother, being stripped of his rights as heir, and becoming a Holy Knight Enoch's personality was said to change greatly within the last 5 years. Although Enoch is a powerful and respected knight with a mature aura, he is surprisingly innocent and does not have many friends at the academy as everyone stays away from him. He slowly becomes friends with Lapis and the others, even helping Lapis study to pass her academy exams. Enoch also has a darker side to him as he seems obsessed with destroying magicians and anything related to the Dark Lord. He currently does not know Lapis is a Magician. Enoch's divine weapon is a spear with powerful lightning. Age: 19 Spoiler: Astrad Astrad: A Holy Knight and temporary professor at Area Academy. Astrad eventually becomes Lapis squad leader after she is promoted to apprentice knight. He appears to have a life threatening heart condition. Astrad's divine weapon is a large sword that controls wind. Age: 32 Spoiler: Astrad Backstory Astrad is Dmitriy's protege and thus follows the Dark Lord. Currently, he is the only "disciple" not from 1,000 years ago. Astrad was also the Holy Knight who saved and watched over Hector after the Libere family was destroyed. Spoiler: Former Holy Knight Hecabe Libere Former Holy Knight Hecabe Libere: The mother of Amelia, Claus, Nadia, and Hector. 5 years ago she was accused of treason, she, along with her entire family were executed. Hector was the only one allowed to remain alive. Enoch filled the Holy Knight vacancy left by Hecabe. Hecabe's divine weapon was a sword. The sword was hidden away in the academy. Hector desperately sought this sword as the last reminder of his mother, but eventually bequeathed the sword to Lapis as a sign of friendship. Area Academy: Spoiler: Professor Demian Demian: A professor of the academy. Known for his love of money and strict teaching style. Spoiler: Demian Backstory Demian is Dmitriy the 5th disciple of Deitasterra. He's the mentor (possible lover) of Astrad. He approached Astrad because he was reminded of his former fellow disciple, Zephyros. Age 1,000+ Spoiler: Housemaster Grendel Housemaster Grendel: A unassuming older man with kind eyes who looks after Lapis and her friends. Spoiler: Grendel Backstory Grendel is Hugo the 7th disciple of Deitasterra. Unlike Calla and Dmitriy who retained their youthful appearance. Hugo aged into an older man. Age 1,000+ Spoiler: Karl Siurumushil Karl Siurumushil: An apprentice knight. A sleepy, but perceptive individual who is part of the fourth division under Enoch. He has the ability to control a hawk like creature as his divine weapon. Age: 21 Spoiler: Karl's Identity Karl is a political prisoner as the son of the Hardekhal leader. Spoiler: Charlotte Lampas Charlotte Lampas: The fourth princess of Lampas and an apprentice knight. Charlotte is considered loud-mouthed, abrasive, and rude by her classmates This she is not well liked despite being a princess. Her personality may be a result of her insecurities of not being as good as her older sisters. She does not get along with Enoch for some undisclosed reason. Charlotte's divine weapon is a Mallet. Age 16-18 The Dark Lord's 12 disciples: Spoiler: Zephyros Zephyros: A fallen disciple of the Dark Lord. He was the 6th disciple and considered close friends with Hugo and Dmitriy. Spoiler: Circe Circe: A fallen disciple of the Dark Lord. Created the ruins of Zycarphus. She was a loner and bookworm who liked to make strange experiments. She is possibly still alive. Age: 1,000 Miscellaneous Characters: Spoiler: Magicians The Magicians: Also know as the cursed ones. Presumably, this curse was left after the Dark Lord's heart shattered. Imbued with dark power, these people eventually turn into senseless beasts. Negative emotions trigger the change faster. Anyone can be turned into a Magician by other Magicians. The physical characteristics of the Magicians are black sclera (black eyes instead of white), bright pupils, and a cursed insignia on their body. Magicians are highly prejudiced against even if in a non-violent state. They are cast out and targeted if discovered by friends, neighbors, and family members. Spoiler: Curse Origin The curse originated as a blessing bestowed by Deitasterra. After Arvena betrayed the Dark Lord, Deitasterra's grief turned the blessings into cursed marks. Spoiler: Dark Beasts The Dark Beasts: Magicians who lose their humanity turn into Dark Beasts. The size and power can vary, some being the size of wolves and others being as massive as a small mountain. Seemingly, the older the dark beast the more intelligent they are. Spoiler: The Followers The Followers: Individuals in black robes and white, faceless masks. They are supposedly followers of the Dark Lord, but they appear to be a third-party group distantly related to the Dark Lord's legacy. These individuals apparently have the ability to communicate with and control dark beasts.
It's been confirmed by the author that Calla is a girl, despite this not being GL (probably because this is a fantasy story, not a romance) Nope. The current author/drawer/manhwa poster is the official writer of the story, so it's an original webtoon. Which, y'know, kinda sucks for us, but at least we can get story details from the author's insta and twitter!
Please tell me Calla is the lead. Enoch is so annoying. Everytime he shows up and kept on that belief of his, I'm just like, 'nah, whatever you say. I'll scroll' If Enoch ends up to be the ML, Imma just cry. I'm okay with purple head too, just not that guy, please.
In other news, it seems like the author is making progress with season 2 (based on their Twitter). I think we could probably see the new season before the end of the year (fingers crossed)
The new season is out! English version is up as well on Webtoons! Webtoons have the new episodes up to 71 (fast pass aka pay coins for early view) while Naver has the episodes up to 74 (fast pass). We almost immediately meet the remaining 2 Holy Knights and another royal princess. It also seems like the author got tired of being asked the gender of everyone every week, so the characters are less androgynous in their body (aka visible boob silhouette)
