A wip of of a novel I m working on its set in ancient china nd is gnna be real angsty i wnna hear some of ur thoughts *** Beneath the plum blossom tree, there sits a fox singing. Beneath the plum blossom tree there sits a wolf idly listening to the gleeful fox. As the plum blossoms begin to fall, the wolf becomes even more entranced in the fox's enchanting song. As the last plum blossom falls the wolf finally wakes up from his dream. The pitiful wolf never stops yearning for the fox and waits underneath the plum blossom tree for his fox. ***"Destroyer of Beauty" is a title of the emperor's only brother, Ling Jingxing. He earned this after killing the most beautiful woman in the continent, Princess Ye Weiyoung of The Wei.Her tragic death lead him to be referred as a heartless man who would kill anyone who came infront of him. However the reality could not be more different...
Warlord "Zhan Shen" and Reaper "Si Shen". Both were titles used to refer to the emperor's only brother. *I felt the way you phrased it was a mouthful is the intention for it to be all in present tense? giving away all his titles may be too much of an info dump in the start. in this case, you can choose the most relevant to introduce first, such as the destroyer of beauty. Good luck writing!
Thnk uu also a little key for the metaphors i chose two animals which i believe symbolized my characters Wolves are fiercely loyal to their mates and have a strong sense of family while maintaining individualism. In many ancient traditions, the fox is a revered symbol of intelligence, adaptability, cunning, gracefulness, and beauty.
Not to be a downer, but an ML a wolf and FL a fox are the most basic symbolism everyone uses. Most main characters are wolves and foxes... Sometimes a tiger or a rabbit.... Cat or a hamster... Plus, there used to be a wolf pack followed by scientists who did DNA test and sometimes found not all pups were the leaders... so stereotypes.
Well ur right but i believe stereotypes if used well r pretty good nd my reason for choosing wolves is not becus of their ferociousness its rather becus they r animals who r extremely loyal to their packs which is an important feature of his personality he is not an emperor nd i dont plan on making him one too as for the fl she is a trickster and sly but also someone with grace and beauty making fox the best option
According to my professor, talented people were the ones who created stereotypes in writing and made them sound authentic and appealing. Untalented people are the ones who use stereotypes in writing and show their lack of imagination to create their own. Of course, this is an over exaggeration. I had a class of: "write this without sounding like someone already wrote it..." it was a nightmare. XD Asians like Cranes and they are loyal birds, but are not used as often. Hummingbirds symbolize joy and beauty, yet not many know they are also smart birds. Imagine the contrast between a loyal, gray and white crane and a vibrant, clever hummingbird. It would make a lovely book cover. A Whale and a little Penguin sitting on its back. A Swan and a Bear playing. Beaver and a Squirrel making a home. Try to go out of the box of wolf, fox, tiger, rabbit. The world is full of animals, and they all deserve their spotlight. Other than that, keep up the good work and good luck~!
If the opening post (as it is now) is the synopsis of a novel, I'd def give it a read. @yuri_moon pls post link if/when it's available online!!
I just wanted to let you know that this is already the name of a Manhwa. One that I really wish had a novel, which is how I found this.
