So i'm just getting started to warhammer franchise. The premise is interesting, some book told a small fight between army and the other fight between gods. As i'm new to this i can't decide which book should i pick. I have only read the legend of sigmar. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance.

READ THE CIAPHAS CAIN NOVELS THEN THE LORE BOOKS THEN THE HORUS HERESY THEN THE GAMES THEN GATHER STORMS AND DARK IMPERIUM THEN THE IMPERIAL GUARD AND SPACE MARINE BOOKS
The Legend of Sigmar is part of the Warhammer Fantasy universe; Warhammer 40k is sci-fi with space marines and tanks and planet exterminators and shit. If you're looking for books in general on Warhammer Fantasy, I would recommend you start with the Time of Legends series. Particularly the books about Nagash, Malekith and Sigmar are important to understand how the world came to be as it is. Since you've crossed one off your list, why not do the other series? Other than that, the Gotrek and Felix series are long running with tons of books, and all of them very high-quality. I enjoyed every one of them. Almost. You should also read the Chronicles of Malus Darkblade. It is about a dark elf; he is vicious, evil and ruthless in all the ways dark elves are. The series is incredibly entertaining, and keeps you guessing right up until the end. It never did get a proper end though, sadly, and now with the fucking disaster that is Age of Sigmar, I guess it never will. If you're looking for Warhammer 40k books, start with the Horus Heresy series ( https://www.blacklibrary.com/horus-heresy-reading-order.html ) Other than that, I can recommend the Space Wolf series of books by William King, and the Eisenhorn and Ravenor series. Especially the last two. Eisenhorn and Ravenor are some of my favorite characters in fiction. I have more to say on the subject, but this post is getting too long.
I second the recommendations of the Ciaphas Cain novels. They are hilarious. To describe it very simply: It's the life story of the most cowardly, and yet one of the most revered, commissars in the imperium and his chaotic luck. For a more serious take, you cant go past the Gaunt's Ghosts series. It's a great example of the grimdarkery regularly faced by IG regiments traversing the galaxy. The Horus Heresy series is a great view into the defining period of the Imperium's history. For single novels, The Emperors Gift is a well focused look into the most mysterious of chapters, the Grey Knights of the Ordo Malleus. I'll have some more recs later on sometime
For WH40K I highly recommend the Space Wolf series by William King. It is well written and highly entertaining. I also love his Troll Slayer novels (WH Fantasy).
Id advise you Horus Heresy cycle if you wanna know how all the shitstorm started. But some of the books in there are hardly readable because of pathos. But try anyway, and if you dont like it, you can always look for TTS series on youtube for lore explanations (If emperor had text-to-speech device). Despite satiric nature of the series, they tell about wh40k lore pretty accurately, and personally I've lost count how many times I've laughed my ass off: If you dont have any problems(or interest) with lore, Id recommend you to read Ciaphas Cain series, as a dude mentioned before (my personal favourite). Also some good ones: Space Wolf series; Eisenhorn series and Ravenor series (in that order); Ultramarines and Iron Warrior series ( they are going at the same time, and in one book both MCs oppose each other) These are good ones that i can Immediately remember. In any case, there are hardly bad books in wh40k universe, you can just visit the wiki page and chose random series and you'll have a great time. Even Horus Herecy series was enjoyable for me, but there was too much pathos from time to time.
