If you graffiti a wall, the police can throw you into jail for 23 days...without charging you! For this of you who have been planning for a trip to the Land of the Otaku, don’t break the law!
This should be common sense but if you break the law you get punished that’s completely normal. So use your head and don’t be an idiot.
Any later than that, they’ll probably charge you with overstaying. Pretty fair in terms of punishment, when compared to SG’s caning law(tough but fair). It’s either that or they let you clean the graffiti with a toothbrush or your tongue.
when you break law in the country that isn't your own, isn't it natural that the country punishes you for your shameful misdeeds? Hong kong is a different issue lol but honestly, don't be an ass and ruin someone else's country, you're not a spoilt brat at home.
Why is this even a thing? Of course you don't do dumb stuff like this or else you would get caught. Do Americans like to graffiti walls that much?
Just don’t be a douchebag and you’ll fine (Except for outlaw immigrants they deal with them pretty harsh)
The point, guys, is if you happen to break the law, inadvertently, because you can’t speak the language, off to jail. @Ai chan is a trap?!
Oh, thank goodness for the warning! I was about to go over to Japan so I could break some laws, but now I'm thinking best not to go. This post is a lifesaver Yeah, that's kinda a thing everywhere. Not knowing the language doesn't tend to be a good excuse for breaking the law in any country.
What? I can't break the law when i'm in another country? Yo, thats backwards thinking man. If I break the law in my home country, i go to jail, that makes sense. I break a law in japan, i go to jail too? Even if i'm not their people? Where's the logic. Give a guy a break man.

We Americans sadly do have a few people who like to do graffiti but we usually keep them ignorant and too poor to do much travel. This Japanese law was more than likely done as a response to the Chinese who love to deface things and usually the older the better such as the pyramids or US DC monuments ... I could really go on. Then again the Chinese did create an entire art style in which people deface artwork to supposedly show their appreciation called scroll paintings in which they leave a bunch of white space on either side of the scroll for people to write on and even then some write on the painting itself.
What! So you're telling me that if you break the law you get punished. What kind of upside-down world is this.
If you being a jerk in other people countries, then you deserved to be jail/fined.. Heck I actually endorsed it! Punished all trash
