It's not that easy to compare Firefox and chrome, due to how they're built, but also extensions & add-ons. I use both, but for different things. Chrome is really nice at video playback and streaming things, but it's crap at privacy. Firefox starts smaller, but that's cause they have removed a LOT of features that the others have, and moved the features to add-ons and extensions to add if you want. (For me Firefox usually runs smaller, but for me, it has a memory leak. So if I don't close and reopen, periodically, it'll eat gigs of RAM or lock up on me.)
Tab Saver?... me too : D i have around 40 tabs open and at least 7 or 8 always (anime,batoto,NU,Wuxiaworld,another_Manga,youtube,9gag,)
Last time I used Firefox, I had serious issues with it working tremendously slowly if I didn't close and restart it at least once every few days. Granted that was a few months ago, so it may be better now, but I haven't tried it again. That was a pretty big deal breaker to me considering I only restart my PC maybe once a month, and otherwise just have it sleep/hibernate. Edit: Basically what @Yipie said regarding Firefox. I'm guessing that still occurs, then.
Firefox crashes a LOT when Im opening it on the phone.. it isnt used to be that way, but now it does.
Too Many Tabs https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/toomanytabs-for-chrome/amigcgbheognjmfkaieeeadojiibgbdp
Try using Vivaldi. It's Chromium-based, like Chrome, but it comes without all the privacy issues associated with Google's integration with Chrome. Also, Vivaldi can use all the extensions that exist for Chrome. It's my browser of choice for just about everything. The newest version of Firefox, dubbed Firefox Quantum, is about as safe and fast as Chromium-based browsers and uses about as much RAM once you include addons and extensions into the mix. My advice to OP is to use either Vivaldi or Firefox. Whichever you find more to your liking.
Firefox does nice overall ram management, but I always appreciated how chrome splits into multiple processes. Some people hate that, but i find it convenient to find the one process thats sucking up all the ram and if the entire browser gets stuck you can try guessing at which process to kill in task manager rather than killing the entire window and closing all the tabs at once, with some effort you can be pretty accurate at figuring out which one.
Firefox use the lowest ram... Except for chat. Don't use firefox for chat. The cache feature become a hindrance instead I use edge, firefox, opera, and chrome since i'm a developer
The thing is that ram usage is going to be heavily dependent on which pages you load as each browser handles different things differently. Here are the latest numbers: Chrome wins in this one: Firefox wins here: Both Firefox and Chrome are good browsers. PS Proper term is Browsers, not Internet Explorers lol
Firefox has already implemented multiple processes for a long time now. Welp for me I have switched to Waterfox I have used WF for over a month now and i can say it's stable & smooth. No more annoying random crashes (doesn't always happen but when it does it's when I'm doing something important ) and hang ups during initial start when i was still using Firefox 56.0.2. The two problems that i have experienced are pretty much present in every Firefox that i have used.
I used to use firefox, but because it is so faulty, error-prone, and bad memory usage, I ditched it. Now I use chrome... and opera for doujin...
Used to. With the webextensions BS, many of the best security, privacy, and content control addons have been neutered. I'm using an old build until I can get palemoon or waterfox up and running with the level of safety I want. : ) Seriously, you can't have adds up and running on the new firefox 57 - it's a security nightmare, with built in tracking and more exploitable holes than microsoft edge (!). : D
